Diesel vs gas engine?
I run a bit of fuel to it too though.
The reason for the op is that basically most people that have diesels, just get the "kit" set up and they themselves dont actually do anything themselves to their own stuff. They people that do it themselves, will find a way......the ones that dont.....get what makes the seller money and gives the buyer enough. Enough depends on the buyer, and now days, way more people dont test their rides then the ones that do, so enough on the but meter is pretty easy to achieve.
What about smaller displacement gas engines surely even with high rpms they are not moving as much air as a 5.9 cummins which is the smallest factory turbo diesel I can think of

ex: a 62mm turbo on your brothers diesel is going to make about the same power "maxed" out as it would on an ls1, though theres other variables on the exhaust side to take into account.
as for the insanely high boost pressures, its because they're running compound turbos. 30psi+40psi = 70.
Is it being a diesel that makes the difference or just the rpms?
Smaller RPM range, smaller turbo.
Air and fuel vs. air/spark/and fuel makes a lot simpler combo.
Diesels are easy, FI on a gas car is alot harder

That's a lot less air volume.
