Default Overheating with AC on with P1 now...

I did a search and couldnt find anything specific to answer my question.I might be asking for too much, you tell me.

Got my car back from getting a Procharger setup put on my 2001 Camaro. Air conditioner worked perfectly before i put it on. Now if i come to a stop with the AC on, even on low. The car starts to overheat, fast. The fan works and i still have a stock radiator. When i turn the AC off the temps go back down.

Now heres the question, what can I do to run the AC in stop and go traffic?

The procharger placement sucks on the fbodies, do i need to add another fan or what?

Yep, fairly common thing that has been posted about before.

Did they take off your front spoiler and throw it away? I'm asking because I have seen two different Procharged cars come out of two different shops after the install without the chin spoiler. The instructions say to cut a few inches off each end and remount the spoiler. For some reason neither shop bothered to put it back on. Mistake. It makes a big difference.

My '02 Z28 with a D1SC kit used to start to run warmer than usual on Texas summer days (100*+) if I ran the AC. I put Hyperlube additive from Pep Boys in the coolant and it fixed it.

I don't know if the ingredients are the same, but I tried Red Line Water Wetter and it had no effect. I was about to give in and spend the money and effort to do the small second fan mod, when I was in Pep Boys one day and saw the Hyperlube brand stuff. I read the package and thought that if even 1/2 of their claims were true, it might solve the problem.

I can't guarantee it will work for anyone else, but it worked on my car. Usually I don't have that kind of luck.

i would make sure the fan is blowing in the correct direction. it should be pulling air, not pushing it. i believe in the procharger directions the wiring schematic is incorrect.

You might try swapping out the ProCharger fan for a Spal 30102082. A lot of people use and with much better results. Bob

TWS: I tried the water wetter with no results also. I wonder should I drain the antifreeze with the water wetter crap then put the hyper-lube in? Or did you put it in with the water wetter?

I left the Water Wetter in there, just drained about the required 14 oz or whatever the size is, using the drain screw at the bottom, filled back up with the bottle of Hyper Lube and made sure there was no air in the system.

You never know, it could be the Water Wetter and Hyper Lube working together. However, I doubt it as the WW didn't do squat. Once the Hyper Lube was in, it made all the difference.

I have the dual spal 11" pullers and 2 cheapie 12" pushers with a dual row griffin on mine. With ac on idling it stays around 205. The biggest problem is airflow with an ac condensor in front of the radiator. I might the hyperlube or some water wetter to see if I can get it below 200.
