Default just another idiot trying to kill a 5.3

Well parts have finally started to arrive, and now the fun begins.
will be running a 5.3 w/317 heads ls6 valve springs and cam
t88 t4 turbo 1.05 a/r custom truck manifold kit (bdcustomz)
twin walbro 255's 80lb injectors 4" core fmic
arp rod bolts, arp head studs, cometic head gaskets, and regapping the rings on the motor and that's about it.
will be converting to a th400 and a 12 bolt over the winter, right now just trying to get the car up and running and somewhat tuned.

I love the thread title, I hope you succeed so you can report back how much the old bitch took before she popped a blood vessel from straining...

Haven't you heard 5.3's aren't cool anymore everyone is trying to kill the 4.8's. What turbo is that? Is it t6 flange? I want to step up to a 88.

Sounds good. I'd get some better valve springs than the yellow's.

Looking forward to seeing your build.

until people who dont know how to tune kill them at 5 psi then they'll be weak pos's again... lol. Damn hot rod. Im also doing a 5.3 build because the 6.0's are a lot more money and my LS1 has a unhappy rod or two that needs to be addressed sometime in the future. Always liked the 5.3's in the trucks.

been looking at doing the 5.3 motor swap a few years back in my friends 86 corvette, but he decided to get rid of the car, now I have this trans am sitting around, and it's just too slow as it is lol.
This is just a budget setup for now to get it back out on the road before the tracks close, won't be running full boost until the spring when some more money is made, and more is spent lol.

Your not jumping on the e85 band wagon? Turbo spec? I want one. After re reading op it's a t4 so it should fit my setup.

I ended up going to a T4 t88 instead of a t6 88mm (saving that for next year). as this car is going to be street driven mostly until next summer and want some response on the street. Next year when it goes auto and ***** out, then I go 88mm.

and I'll be running pump gas/C16 (I guess it's a racecar then lol)

Doing a single 88 mm 5.3 myself in a 72 Nova. Gathering parts and knowledge before I start a build thread. Lol I'll be keeping an eye your build for some direction! Good luck!

lol thanks. I can';t wait to run this thing, minor set back yesterday due to hail storm, so I gotta lay out some cash to get my jeep back up and running and deductible money for the cobalt (I hate hail). but I have most parts I need to get moving on this, so hopefully there will be some more progress this weekend

Things are looking good...though I assume you realize that turbo is not an 88mm turbo..it is a 74mm copy of a gt4202.....I have 2 hung on my 408ci mopar......I feel this is a very capable turbo and should be able to product 700+ hp whp on a 5.3...

I've pushed mine to 20psi and 980 rwhp on a mustang dyno.
