I was told that with a smaller turbo like a 70 mm and a 500 max whp goal the turbo setups could be ran without a boost ref reg and do the fuel enrichment off the map. So just a bigger pump and larger injectors. If so this would be awsome for lower boost power levels.

I always run boost ref when I can. It's not adding fuel to support the boost, it more keeping the injectors squirting with the same pressure differential in both manifold vac and boost, so you can run a flat value in the flow rate table in the tune and get the most out of the injectors. IMHO, it the correct way to fuel a turbo motor.

It really does help the injectors and pumps out a lot.

With 80 lb injectors you will probably be fine. The 255 is getting close though. We generally try not to run those much past 550 on gasoline, although some will say they are good for more. I always like to have extra injector and fuel pump and not run things to the ragged edge. An A1000 would give you room to grow or a second 255 (they are cheap!).

Its going to take modifying the rails, for a flow through design to do that. It would probably end up being less expensive or or about the same cost, for a larger set of freer flowing aftermarket rails.
FYI, the ls1 kit that summit sells, it amazing quality and not that salty.

I do agree that a return system with regulator is the best route for a FI setup. The single 255 with a BAP will be fine at 550 rwhp on gas.
The cheap route to do a return setup with stock rails is to use the stock feed and return it via the shrader ( valve removed ) while using the EVAP line as your return line.
