im wondering, how easy, or difficult would it be to get a fox body to a 2600 lb raceweight?
3250. The hatch cars are heavier then the trunk cars and my car has the soonroof which adds weight as well. Just like anything else you can spend a bunch of time and money and get one lighter. This car is really too nice for me to want to cut up and make lighter.

To get to a safe 2600 lb raceweight in a foxbody you would have alot of time cutting and a ton money in lightweight parts.

I'd say 2600 is doable in a fox, just like Anthony said tho would be a lot of cutting/light parts. I've considered selling my rx7 a few times to get a fox, I really love how the fox cars look, I just know I'd be giving up some mph going that way so can't justify it yet. We have a fox we are building for a guy right now, 6.0/88mm, I'll have it on the scales soon to get an idea what it weighs. Also remember my aluminum motor and 76 is probably 100lbs lighter than a 6.0 and t6 88mm.

two of the three stangs that i saw get on the scales were hatchbacks. BUT, they were nitrous smallblocks, and the drivers were less than 200lbs. i think the intercooling stuff and turbo piping adds to the weight of the cars.

btw, here is the race. it was awesome seeing these cars on 275s running 1.2x 60s and 5.2s in the eighth. the final race was two hatchbacks and it was close as heck

i love how the fox hatches look too and im going to do a turbo foxbody hatch. they work too well. if you look at the vid i posted above, i talked to the two finalists through the night and its sickening how little it took to get those cars working. both cars had upgraded uppers and lowers, but stock mounting points. arb, coil overs and frame connectors and thats it. and these guys are 60' in the 1.20s on 275s. they are even using the 8.8, albeit beefed up.

i think 2600 raceweight with a sub 200 driver would be doable(but not easy) if it doesnt have to fit a class. alum block engine, lexan windows all around. pro stock radiator, lightened doors, etc could probably get there.

skinnies, do you run a glide or th400?

I ran a th400 last year and a glide this year, honestly I like the glide and I know once it goes straight it'll work great! We also strapped down the front end this year, has about 1/2" travel up and still will take everything on the hit that we have thrown at it.

Yes mustangs are easy to get to hook, such a great chassis and I do like the looks of them. I have a white notch in my garage we are building for a guy, 6.0/88mm combo, should be out in spring(since its getting cold here and tracks will be closing). I'll be disappointed if it doesn't run in the 8's, lol.

Cool, don't be afraid to give Eric a call though, he lives for this stuff and he's helped guys like Andy who isn't even running any of his stuff (yet).

Is your suspension adjustable?

Do you think you are out of turbo and could you run a bit bigger one you think? I'm also curious as to why you like the 'glide more, is it happier with it in terms of power band?

Yep it's a full 4 link car and definitely think its out of turbo. Above 20lbs it didn't gain nearly as much per lb of boost, honestly I think an 88 would be ideal for this motor on around 24lbs or so. I was planning on turning the car up last weekend, but they wouldn't let me make anymore passes, was going to try to push it over 170mph.

I put in the glide to help keep the nose down, which with it and the front end limit straps seemed to really help, plus it helps on the street. The cars never been to a chassis shop and I'm far from knowing enough on a 4 link car to make it right so I'm pretty excited to get that done.

Yep I had the turbo lt1 formula before, I run a truck manifold on the passenger side and drivers side is a car manifold facing towards the back of the car in order to keep the stock alternator location.

Do you think a 76gts will be good for a 4.8? I feel like all the 5.3 guys run a pt88. I know you have done well with the 76 and I am hoping I can do well with a 76gts and a 4.8.

Skinnies is running a pte 76hpsh, the 76gts is compareable and will make pretty good numbers on a 4.8. Depending on if you are more street or track oriented will decide what a/r you want.

I really don't have many under hood shots of the car, here is an older one, but don't have any new ones since we changed some stuff around....

Are you using the stock pcm? What are you using to tune it? What size injectors?
