Pull the pan off and take a look at the rods, there are a few comparison pics floating around on tech somewhere.

yes on the headbolts...and...
if you are talking about a alum l33 5.3 they only made them for 2005 and up HO trucks, so your motor would have a 2004 date code, it will have the good rods.

Yes, its an aluminum 5.3 from a Trail blazer, he said it was from a 2004 model year.

His description

"2004 trailblazer aluminum 5.3L, 100k on the clock, ran good in vehicle and tested good -190 cold compression across the cylinders."

EDIT: maybe its actually an LM4

EDIT: 2 according to this, its and LM4

The casting number on the block is 12566910

could you pm me the website if you have it up?

sounds like a fun "cheap" event. what about cars that are half fiber glass, and aluminum floors? i have a 68 chevelle that has a lift off fiber glass front end, aluminum firewall, aluminum floors, and is back halved, BUT it will be in the 3k weight range still. it still has steel doors, and quarters, along with stock frame rails from the front to the back half.

only thing i would look at as far as rule changes would be how many times you can oil down the track (including time trials), and engine diaper required on ALL cars. i have no problems with people changing there engine every round, but i do have a problem with the **** stick that oils down the track every pass.

also any head gasket rules?

is it ok to re-ring and bearing? dont want to put 20lbs to a motor with 180k miles, but guess i will if i have to.

maybe make stock style exhaust manifolds mandatory on all turbo cars (truck manifolds), since this is a "budget" type race.

Big update to the site today

Also speaking with track owner about final dates.

I am really wanting to get everyones progress and project pictures up on the "Competitors" page. No matter where you are in the build, send a pic and your planned combo to sam@stockshortblockshootout.com

The two classes are "Outlaw stock" and "Limited stock" I am not making any requirements for direct streetability in limited stock, if your over 3200lbs bring it.

Is this going to be a full weekend event? Or just a 1day deal? I'm just trying to plan ahead.

Is the weight rule considered "race weight". 3200lbs with driver?
