Thanks. Ive definitely been trying, i cant believe how hard it pulls under full boost. i was scared of it at first, but the car doesnt spin, it just hooks and goes which made me more confident. By the end of tonight i was brake boosting third and letting it rip all the way through fourth.

Got a really good race in, ill have a video up soon

Ill just throw in a 5.3 if this lets go haha.

Here's a race from last night, first one is just total lack of experience on how to race this car from a roll. by the second time we raced, i had a much better grip on what works.

its still doing it but the car runs perfect. its weird, no oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil. Im pulling the heads putting ls9 gaskets and 317s when i get back in august and that should take care of it. Im adding an eboost2 too so ill make a lil more power

I have speedo/acceleration video that ill post soon too. Just waiting for it to get sent to me.

new plate cover ya'll. Thanks westtexasbuff

yeah its not expensive if you can do the work yourself. But that is what cost me to go from cam-only to running turbo car. I had a rear-end,clutch, tires, suspension already. a lot of people do that at the same time which runs the cost up

Well the car now has 317s, ls9 headgaskets, and arp head studs installed. I drove it(from ohio) to the dream cruise in michigan a couple weeks ago and it ran like a champ. I beat the hell out of the car, sat in traffic for hours upon hours and it took every ounce of it. i couldnt be happier. got 20mpg on the highway, which isnt bad for E85.

Small issue on the way home. my low coolant light kept coming on so i would stop, let it cool/fill the resevoir up. Now the resevoir is full but the light keeps coming on. the car isnt overheating and it only comes on after i start driving for a lil while. I know the car isnt pushing water anymore with studs and ls9's installed. timing is only at 18-19* ,the studs were torqued to 85ft/lbs and boost is 9-12lbs. im kinda stumped on this one. any one got any ideas?

Those sensors are notorious for giving false lights. The problem is, with the newness of your build you'd probably be best served to check it every morning till you're sure that the coolant is full and the sensor is 'full of it' Mine stays on and has been that way for years. I pay more attention to the temp gauge than anything because of that but that's a worthwhile effort. I've caught problems early over the years with that labor.

Congrats on the car! Sounds like it's pretty much perfect

yeah i kept a real close eye on it once it started acting up. I checked every single time i drove the car and before i started it for more than a week. The coolant level is perfect. Hasnt and doesnt overheat. It really only comes on when i drive the car for a few hours too.

Im thinking all the head gasket material that was getting into the cooling system when i was lifting the heads gummed the sensor up. Im gonna flush the system again to clean it a lil more.

Couldnt be happier with the car though, it speaks for itself. ive put more miles on it since i boosted it than i have in the past 2 years combined. The miles have not been easy either.

Small updates for the thread:
Recently put in a Glowshift fuel pressure gauge(flame away), reading spot on (compared to the aeromotive mechanical gauge i had before) for now. Figured for $40 or whatever it cost, it was worth a shot.

Some stuff for the future/winter:
3.25 gears so i can pull 4th gear to 140
Finally install my Textralia OZ700
Eboost street to fix high rpm boost fall off
HPT (pro) mainly for data logging

Im back at school, so money is tight and those are all pretty expensive parts. so we'll see when i get to them

Cant believe its already time to put the car away. Got some plans for winter though!

here is a quick speedo video. I actually started brake boosting at 40 and took off around 55-60. Granny shiftin, not double clutchin like i should.

Big news, I sold the TC78 yesterday and bought a Precision 7675 GTS-H. Should be here by the end of the week but i dont think ill tune it again until spring since E85 has changed blends. Im gonna see how far i can take this stock shortblock on a budget Im going for the 650rwhp mark for the hell of it and leave it there.

The other plans are 3.25 gears and putting the textralia clutch in so i can really get back to shifting. Its also so i can actually make a pass down the track. Clutch has been slipping on hard shifts. also got an aluminum driveshaft that ill throw in too. Should be an interesting spring!

Thanks to those that have followed along!

Not to be that guy but is it just the light or were you missing the metal insert in the nosrtal of the hood on the passenger side? Looks like a great build and on a budget you did it for a fairly cheap price, but how long did the on3 turbo last your? and what did you make your hot side out of?

A TC78 is made by Turbonetics, not On3.

Awesome build OP. Car is going to run hard with the 7675.

No worries but it must be lighting, nostril insert is there. and ray is correct, the turbo was a turbonetics tc78, not on3 76. the specs on both are very close though.

Hotside is just 2.5in mild steel

the whole reason Im swapping turbos is because I was going to pick an eboost up but I came across this 7675 and realized I could pick it up for the same price as an eboost if I sold the tc78 first. I was lucky enough to move the tc78 in a day or 2 and pick the 7675 up before it sold to someone else. lotta room to grow for about a $350 upgrade
