Default precision vs turbonetics? anybody done a comparison on the dyno

i have twin TC70's with a .81 a/r and was thinking of getting PT67's or PT71's with the billet wheels and a .68 a/r. i want to make more power and i want to spool faster. so has anybody done a comparison between the two?

Switching to the billet wheel will probably spool faster and will make a good bit more power.

On what RPM do you see full boost on the street with the turbos you have now?
TC70's with .81 a/r should spool very nicely with 441ci?

With that displacement you probably would not want to go smaller than the .83 A/R on T4s. From what I've read the billet wheels don't change the spool characteristic much if at all.

my 390 spools mine around 35 to 4000 rpm, you have a stick and more Ci. Hmm, that is a good question.

the billet 71mm PT wheels are killer
do it justice and leave the larger a/r turbine.

the smaller comp wheel from pte is better than turbonetics 70mm

My cam is big. It was speced out for a t3 set up. So it doesn't spool up till 4000 rpm. But it hits like a freight train.

An equivalent sized PT will make more power and spool faster.

Unfortunately, your problem is the manual transmission.

7168 = 71 comp wheel, f1-68 turbine ( 68mm exducer)

7175= 71 comp wheel, mid frame 75mm exducer turbine

68mm turbine rated @ 950-1000 hp
75mm turbine rated @ 1200 hp

I think you could address other aspects like, cam, compression, and tune to deal with the spooling issues.

Very interesting stuff, I've always been led to beleive that the billet wheels would spool faster on the same turbo, obviously I've been misled!

I will be going to .68 a/r's when I go to the pt'.s turbos to hopefully make up for the size of cam.

wouldn't it be cheaper to change out the cam and address some of the other issues rather than turbine housing/turbo swaps?

Billet just lets you run a higher pressure ratio. Unless you are nearing 30 psi it doesn't really matter.

The turbos on your car now are 7068s. There's no reason to change to a pair of 7168s. You need to address other issues like the cam, compression, and potentially the tune if you're unhappy with the spooling of the car. If you want to throw some money around please throw some my way. I'll send you my paypal.

We run 70psi with cast wheels on our sled pullers all the time. Billet is NOT necessary for anything other then extreme apps which not many setups can live under any how......definitely not gas motors.

^ Are the aero on Precision's wheels different than their cast wheels? They advertise their numbers for the CEA billet turbos different than their cast pieces. Is that due to aero or simply marketing?
