Today I stopped by my friends Skip while him and Bill Lewis were hard at work trying to get my 10pt cage done in 2 days! While they were working on the hard stuff I changed my oil and put in Mobile 1 10w30 full synthetic to get it ready for the dyno. I also drained the radiator and fixed my mechanical temperature sending unit. I shortened the hoses and used a 90 degree pipe fitting. I am running it where the heater hoses would have gone. I also pulled all the spark plug wires and wrapped some more heat shield on them. I like this stuff so far. It cuts easy and has a sticky backing that you peel. Wraps right around the plug wires and stays (so far) I also removed the down pipe and put a nice "ding" in it so my steering wheel can turn freely.
As far as the cage goes....it killed me to put one in. I hate the idea of having to cage a car I want to drive and tow the kids around. However, it really was starting to get to the point of NOT being safe. Skip and Bill did a nice job of really trying to tuck everything nice and tight for me. We painted them silver to offset the paintjob and the black interior. I will have my entire back seat for the kids and that was important. They are hoping to have the cage done tomorrow and then weld back in the areas where they had to cut out the floor to weld it to the frame and touch up with paint, etc.. on Sunday. Trying to have it ready so I can pick it up and get it to the dyno on Monday while the weather is still nice.
The pictures are probably over kill but I wanted to make sure that if anyone does a search that I hope that we have covered as many issues as one might have. Enjoy. Thanks Skip and Bill for the hard work today. I do appreciate it.

Here is where I place my mechanical temperature guage. No kinks and the fluid should circulate with no issues giving me a pretty accurate reading.

Just got back from the dyno. It was raining and cold so he only spent an hour or so on it today. We think the convertor is definitley NOT going to work. He was able to footbrake it to 15lbs of boost. However, he made 3 pulls and I was able to get two of them on video. The pulls were very short. I just want to get it tuned so it runs decent at low boost for a while. As the season goes on we will ramp up the boost. The first video was 3-4lbs of boost and only 4-4500rpms. The second pull was 5lbs of boost and 5k. The thermostat was sticking and so we had to let it cool down before each pull. We are going to replace it with a 160.
I was very happy with how well it went for the first work on tuning it. He will have it for a few more days to get the tune right.

I tried that a long time ago and it never gave accurate readings. Get the right setup and put it in the head!
What converter you using? What did it make? Even 5lbs at 5k should make some decent power with those twin 62's.
edit: Just watched the 2nd video, that doesn't sound smooth at all

He is logging everything.

A quick update. We replaced the thermostat and it still was overheating. Somehow the idler pulley had come loose and shredded the belt. Going to try and fix that today and see if we can get some more tuning in. Eventually makeing a full dyno pass to see where we are at.

Not a lot going on right now. I wanted to make sure I was getting plenty of cool air to the turbo's and worked on the inner headlight bezels. We media blasted them and riveted some "screen" on the back to fill the headlight bezel in. It should be big enough to allow cool air to pass and not so big to let a bird or something get into the compressor. lol I think they turned out pretty nice. Can't wait to get them on the car.

Thanks guys.. Getting really close. Just trying to figure things out with the tune. With E85 and no intercooler I don't want to blow it up on the dyno so we are really taking our time with the tune.

Car is sick man. Just a quick question...How do you post your pictures in your thread as nice big pictures. I am new to making a thread and the pictures I try to upload are small "thumbnails" that need to be clicked on to enlarge.
