Default How hot does a turbine housing get?

I just put in my much larger comp 88mm for a test fit and the turbine housing is right on the fan housing. I can trim alittle plastic off but its pretty much going to be right on it. I'm going to have it coated also but a blanket won't fit at all. I'm worried about the fan motor which wil not be 1/4 inch away.
How hot can these get on the outside coated?

1000* F would be somewhere in the ballpark. My turbo Buick ran egts in the 1550-1650* range...

Hmm ok, I might have to figure somthing else out. I wonder what the coating brings the outside temp to. Probably still to hot for the fan motor

Well, that nylon that the fan is made out of will be liquid at 500F...

Is there room to Fab up some kind of heat sheild? That's what I did, but its a good inch away from the housing.

The exhaust housing you mean? If so, wouldn't a turbo blanket take care of that? I can touch mine with my finger while it's running.

Edit: Ooops... I didn't read the part where you mentioned a blanket wouldn't fit. My bad... What a shame, that would certainly do the trick... You sure it can't be made to fit? If you can stuff it in there, they're really not that thick.

On the GN:
1600* measured just under the turbo, and the coated dp close, [2"] to the plastic inner fender= "self clearancing" inner fender.
A ceramic coating will help, but not enough to prevent problems...

Ceramic coat will flake off....eventually, may even void warranty of some new turbos.

yep water cooler manifolds are a must, we made a new set in the off season with some bigger primarys and they dont glow as much now but still get the glow on when it is a little dark out... the longer races are 50min to 1hr long and they will glow like that the whole time.. lol
