How loud is open 5in downpipe?

Default How loud is open 5in downpipe?

Going to be running a T6 S475 on a LQ9 w/stock 317's and a 230/230 cam. Going to run an open 5in downpipe out the side in front of the front tires. I know this won't be quiet, but how insanely loud are we talking?

Anyone got any video clips?

Still have to notch the fender and insert, but this gives you an idea of what I am doing.

That's my trans am. It's a 5" that closes down to a 4" and exits through the fender. No true muffler, only the turbo. I dont think it's loud AT ALL.

I've ran mine open 4" at the K-member and open back by the door it's loudest on the highway but nothing too bad

This is an open 3" dp with a 76GTS as the only muffler.

We cannot confuse what is considered a normal decible at the track vs. the street...... What is normal at the track will get you a ticket on the street.....

If a drag only car, you'll be fine...

If a street/strip car, add the ticket cost into your turbo build cost.....

Either way its going to be loud............

I know my open 4" out the fender is alot quieter than my old Trex/TD's/spiral flows with dumps setup was. haha.

Mine is crazy loud. 4" downpipe ending in the middle of the car. I just installed a electric cutout. The rest of the exhaust is connected to the stock quiet ss catback. Stealth to no restriction with the flip of a switch.

got any more info on the setup, dyno numbers, times, build thread, etc. how is that 1.32 on the 346? i am running a 364 w/the 1.32 and am worried about spooling with no brake.

my car with open 3" downpipes on twin setup is pretty loud. Lot louder than full 3" pipes out the bumper with bullets. With the full exhaust and just bullets its pretty mild/quiet for what it is. Especially at WOT. Lot quieter than single 4" on my old n/a 383 sbc.
Turbos act as a muffler, and the setup is alot quieter than what a high compression n/a motor would be with open exhaust, but still pretty loud IMO.
