Default Considering Procharger

Well I've been kicking around the idea of a Procharger, something to do over the winter while i can't drive the car. I'm thinking about the P1-SC kit LT/ ORY/ Borla all at once, question is my car has 97k on it now, and I'm worried about throwing boost on it... Should I go ahead and build the engine now or will a stock LS1 with full exhaust at 97k hold up with a P1? The car runs great but, I don't want any down time in the summer because the engine gives out on me.
I drive this car everywhere in the summer, I don't really go to the track to much maybe once or twice..

I would step up to atleast a D-1 if you are going to do this.

^^ what he said. I have a P1 on my SS and I'm in need of a bigger blower here shortly because of my soon to be added mods. Let's say you do the P1 and you get hungry for more power ( you will, we all do) later down the road, it cost a pretty penny to upgrade from P1 to D1 so might as well fork it up ahead of time. I think at your milage a modest 6-7 psi should hold up well, just make sure you take it to a DAMN good tuner for dyno tuning because that's the biggest factor in making any stock bottom LS1 last under boost. I say go for it

I'm with him all the way!
Call Bob @ brutespeed and he'll get you fixed up. I too would recommend the D1sc, just because to upgrade in the future its gonna be costly to do so, as if you were to just buy it from the beginning you pay I think like a couple hundred over the P1sc when you buy the kit.

personally at that millage If you've maintained regular maintenance on it and also haven't beaten on it that much, I think you will be just fine. Ernest

I put a D-1SC on my '99 Z28 when the engine had 110,000 miles on it. I didn't have any problems at all with it until at 125,000 miles we decided to up the boost to 15 psi. What can I say, we were bored... lol It actually survived at 15 psi through all the tuning, and several different drag strip excursions.

I agree with those who replied that you should go with the D-1SC, and to those who recommended you get in touch with me, THANKS!

I agree with everyone else about not buying the P1 and going straight to the D1. There will always be a market for used D1's as everyone with a P1 usually ends up wanting to go bigger, but might not have the room or desire to go into the F series of blowers.

I have a P1sc that im installing on my ws6. Currently have 94k on it.

If your buying new, yes go with the D1SC. I got my P1SC kit at a 1/3 of the cost of a new D1 kit and it'll still make 600rwhp. Which is plenty for me.

go for at least the D1, you will have a bunch of room to grow as you progress with your build. Bob from Brute Speed is the man to call

upgrade the P1 TO A D1 and you will be fine; keep it under 8psi and you will have a few years. then start watching for your dip stick popping out... Cause the ring landings go first!
