Default 76gts question

I am going to be running a lq4 with l92 heads and a cam (stock otherwise). Wondering if a 76gts will work well for me or not. I found one for a good price that has a .81 a/r, but I'm not sure if that will work for me or not. The guy selling it said that some custom work has been done on this turbo so it would spool up faster.

Anyone know how will the 76gts compare to a tc78 as far as power band goes?

I have an extra 96ar housing I will sell you. 81ar is way to small for a 370ci

I think the powerband will be very similiar, until you start running high boost and pushing it, then the GTS kicks its ***. (with .96ar)

I forgot to add that the car will have a t56. Don't know if that changes anything.

Gimmeluvin: pm me how much for the housing.

Yes, as long as the wastegate piping is not at horrible angles.

This ^^^^^^^

I have that same turbo and I have a Tial 38mm. My angles are horrible (90) and it makes 15 psi on a 5lb spring. I would say a 44mm with decent angles would have no problem.

It'll work well. I'd run something other than l92 heads though. From what I've seen on here, they have a tendency to lift easier than other stock castings.

So, LS1NOVA: If you were to build a front mount kit you would be able to position it just fine, correct?

It isn't the newer TIAL 44mm MV-R its the V44 the previous gen
Is that better or worse or the same?

The new MVR is smaller and easier to package.

I just wouldnt pay a whole lot for a used wastegate unless its in great shape and hasnt been on someones car for ten years.
