22psi and 23* of timing on pump? Meth or not that's a lot of timing especially on 6 range plugs. Are you reading your plugs at all? Not just pulling them out randomly, but putting a new set in making a pass, shutting it down afterwards and reading them?

Isn't a br7ef a non projected tip plug? FI is supposed to utilize a projected tip plug from what I have read and heard, and nitrous utilizes non projected tip plugs.

Changed 4 plugs at a time per pass, the strap did indicate that it was going a little too far advanced but the car was picking up mph, I stopped because I knew I was already pushing it to hard
94 octane with three meth nozzles 15,9,7gph straight meth

I couldn't get the BR7's to work in mine. The non projected tip caused low speed misfires and horrible gas mileage. Had the same thing happen with a Lightning I had way back in the day. TR6's are working fine for me at 15lbs, meth and pump gas.

BR7EF or BR7EFS

If you are having misfires and horrible gas mileage it isn't because of the non-projected tip plugs. These plugs are run in just about everything with no issues.

Do you have a link or something you can post with that information? I would think a projected tip would NOT be desirable for FI. I would think if the tip was projected, it would essentially be sticking out like a sore thumb just getting hot and causing pre ignition.

He posted incorrect information, non-projected is a race style plug and doesn't differentiate between nitrous and FI.

That is what I learned as well. I just wanted to see if there was information somewhere stating otherwise.

Sounds like you got it right, that's alot of meth.

NicD- So when do you know when to use a projected or non projected tip? Is it decided by fuel, psi, timing or compression? Just trying to learn something here, I always used projected tip TR6's.

Here is a good article I found in Car Craft, it's basically saying that projected tip plugs should be used, unless in a high boost racing type application. I guess it all comes down to what you are comfortable with and what you consider high boost, as I don't consider anything under 18-20psi high boost, again what you are comfortable with. I ran meth injection on my car and no more than 14-16* total timing at 15psi and 93/110 fuel. Those that don't want to read it, it basically says that a projected tip will allow timing to be reduced while still giving good or better throttle response with a lesser risk of detonation due to retarded timing. Then it says for nitrous most use a non projected tip plug. It's even saying some/most Top Fuel teams are using projected tip plugs albeit cut down. Interesting read for sure. Kinda what I have heard all along thus why I made the statement I did.
