I have a kit I bought used and it has the stocker. I've looked into the Aster but the wait time is 3 weeks and my car goes uner the knife three weeks from yesterday the 24th. Also I know Bob recomends the race valve for anything over 14lbs of boost but is the black one in the kit any good?
Thanks, I appreciate it! Bob

The problem with a stock bottom end is the pistons and rings don't like high heat. Knock is bad, but even if you don't get knock, but the pistons and rings get too hot, you're going to lose a ringland.
Running higher octane gas is great for avoiding knock, but it doesn't do anything for keeping the combustion chamber/pistons/rings cool. Once you start tossing lots of fuel and air in there, the temps will go up, and before too long, you're going to pay the price.
Methanol (meoh) and water injection helps to not only raise octane to avoid detonation, but they help cool the pistons and rings. Anyone worth anything in the meoh/water injection business is going to tell you to tune the engine to a safe point without the aid of the injection, then add in the injection of water/meoh as an added safety feature, so that if for some reason you run out of solution, or the system fails, you don't grenade the motor instantly.

A vehicle with forced induction will be stronger at night or early morning than it will be during the mid day when the temps are hotter, and the methanol will really make a noticeable difference during the mid day.
We've found you want to run 100% methanol, as a 50/50 meth/water mix tends to put the flame out when used with forced induction.
Methanol induction is only used basically when the vehicle is going wide open throttle, so it doesn't use as much methanol as most people assume it would.
As long as your tuner doesn't add a bunch of timing once methanol is added or overly correct the air/fuel mixture when the methanol kicks in, you shouldn't expect to having any engine related problems should the methanol not work. Thanks. Bob

For what it's worth I couldnt make a decision on what to run pure meth or 50/50 meth/water. I ended up running 75/25 meth/water mix by volume.

and Icrazy.....i too am getting that 390 as of the 5th, and I will still have meth. though I will be running E85 which is the ideal solution to this problem.....however I am lucky enough to have the station right near me. 9 miles which is most certainly not the case for the majority. But Alchemist is def on the mark when he says that the pistons ( namely #7) are rather shy when boost starts introducing heat on a whole new level. I personally will prob skip the 3.55 pulley and head for the 3.4. looking to make Brandon Look slo! haha jk jk. my car aint looking to hot sitting there with no motor in it though!

i think that is the best ratio personally...just enough water to keep temps down, and as much meth as you can get to do what it do. my question is where can you buy it like that. all i found was snow boost at 51/49
