I looked at both the Crowly rods ($550) and the Lunati pro mod rods ($700) but I was told the Crowly ones are only good to 500rwhp-ish and the pro mods are good to 650rwhp or so....I rather spend the extra money first and not have to back and fix a mess.

I'm sure others who know a bit more will chime in soon

Good luck with your buildup

There are stock rods holding 650rwhp already. I have used Lunati Pro Mods in both FI motors I have built. I'd say they can handle 1000rwhp if tuned properly. Tuning is always the key folks

I agree 100%. Which is why I didn't spend bookoo bucks on rods made out of kryptonite or some ****.
Pro Mods are just fine.

I wouldn't setup a "built" motor w/stock rods though, if your going in there in the first place might as well back it up for the peace of mind.....if you don't plan on pushing it that hard just use some strong rod bolts, those seem to be the major weakness before the actual rod lets go, or in some cases is the cause of the rod letting go.....

Didn't mean it was safe Just that Mike Brown's car was running 9.8s @ 136+ pass after pass with a completely stock bottom end. His weight was 3550 pounds. You figure out how much HP is needed to run 138mph trap with 3550 pounds. By my calculations about 725 ponies
