I'd shoot for a 9.5/1 compression ratio. 700 rwhp can be made with Patriot LQ9 Stage 11 heads (or something similar) with our blower cam and an LS6 intake easy enough with a ProCharger D-1SC. Bob

You would need to do it with a compression calculator....static or dynamic? Your combustion chamber size and head gasket thickness will play into it.... Just a standard LS6 intake manifold will do.

how many people are running a gm head with port work?? Is this a good route, or better off to buy an aftermarket set?

heads with thicker decks are preferred -----AFR 225 or TF 225 have proven well for other builds. if price is an issue stage 3 317's or 243's will work. get a good gasket such as GM MLS or GM LS9 head studs instead of bolts. a good vent setup for the heads. ls6 intake is fine. higher compression is more dangerous. the 9:5 will allow you to roll on pump gas (93) this is also what i am planning to do. many of us actually.

hey man, i have not bought anything used yet, and i have complete and utter confidence in what i am installing. it hurt the wallet, but puts me at peace. its nice to know that you have no chance of being shafted or not knowing what you are getting. i personally will be buying a new rear end heads and everything. the only thing i may get used is suspension parts. lca panhard etc.....

I'm using stage 3 LS6 heads and are over 800rwhp with no issues....I don't plan to lean on them to much harder though.

I'm using untouched 243s besides lapped in valve work and springs and I'm shooting for 700-750 reason I kept stock heads is if I make my goal I won't touch them and saved good money but if I'm just short I know a good head will get me there.

Good point. I got a set of cnc'd 243s so I sure hope to hit the 700+ goal.
