Is it a journal or ball bearing turbo?

Looks just to be a threaded port doesn't look like any restrictor in there.

I had an s480 and was told that the bearing had its own "built in" restrictor. Explained to me this way, these turbos are built for diesels and if you look at the feed lines there are no restrictions.

Make sure you have an adequate return (size and routing) and a well vented crankcase and it shouldnt smoke. Plenty of oil will help cool the bearing housing and prevent oil from baking/burning inside

Exactly, just run a 1/8" feed line to it and about a 1/2" return and you should be golden

I dont think journal type have any type of restrictor. Think of the bearing being similar to a crank bearing. You have a "pressure" build up to basically "float" the shaft. A ball type needs to be restricted on amount of oil supplied

Appreciate the info, and the plan was to run -8 or -10 for a return line either to the timing cover, or oil pan.
