Actually it might get tweaked a couple hundred rpm higher...

The big problem isnt in the flash rpm and the stator..... the biggest issue is the fact its blowing through the pump/turbine.

Lenny will have final say on it based on the information i give to him about it.

Lol, see, I had a feeling it could be going either way..... At least I was right about that one thing today! I'm not going to tell my wife though, I think she'd be pissed to know I had been right about something...

It does need a little more rpm, but it needs to couple harder and load the engine more.

Imo the converter is very typical of what some people like chance and a couple others do with em. Tight where it needs to be loose and loose where it needs to be tight.

I saw smoke roll out of some peoples ears when i tried to explain to them it was loose and tight all at the same time.

This car has to have some adjustments made too based on the fact its a footbrake car and not transbraked. We cant have the converter flash to 1k rpm below where the turbo really starts coming alive and then force it through to desired launch rpm during the prestage/stage routine.

Re-Stall the Circle-D.

I am not buying another converter, I have spent enough.

I did everything as cheaply as I could. However, in the end it is all of the little things that end up getting you. Tools, fasteners, fluids, etc. I figured I would do it right this time, and be done.

I agree. Do it right and be done. I can't stand doing things twice! I am excited to see this thing go down the track!

Good luck!

Lenny was recommended for the job and he can apparently get it right the first time. So, I went with him. Plus, I am not the original owner of the converter, so I don't think I get free re-stalls from Circle-D.

Update Time!!!!

Ok, the converter came back from Lenny last week and we got it in. We wanted it tight, since the car was blowing through it before, and he delivered. It is about as tight as a drum. Did not wind up with any additional flash, unfortunately, but I will never need to lock the converter under WOT again. The downside was it actually slowed down my spool a bit.

So, I figured it was time to finally address the hotside and the merge. If you have been following this build, you know that the merge was the subject of some controversy. However, it worked great with the 5.3 and the Magnum. With the 6 liter and the S480, it was not working as well. So, I figured I would try a fully divided setup and see if that helped. This is a sizeable turbo to get moving, with a 96mm turbine wheel in a 1.32 housing.

Here is what we ended up with:

Response is much improved with this. Not only am I seeing boost 500-600 rpm sooner, but it comes up to full boost quicker. I think with some more tweaks, we are going to be golden.

I took it out yesterday for some testing, here is the video:

Overall, it is getting there. I thought this was going to be an easy swap, but I have wound up having to re-do so many things that it is more of a full re-do. Either way, I think we are close to finished here. Hoping to get it to the track soon.

I have not taken any recently. It basically looks the same, except the new turbo kit looks different. I didn't do any wire tucks or clean up or anything like that. I a not into show cars, only go cars.
