X2. If that were so I could not imagine what an intake (stock style) with a much smaller plenum volume would equate to. This Holley Hi-Ram closely mirrors a sheet metal which are know to have the most equal air distribution compared to conventional intakes.

I've got a question..... mine is hte 300-116 (LS3/L92 version) and i'm still not 100% on what is wrong with these intakes? Everyone keeps talking about the castings & injector alignments, depths, etc.

Oh btw if anyone was wondering if wanting to install on a C5 vette... have a sawsall handy

It looks like a 4.5" cowl hood will clear the highest point

All of my injectors line up correctly from fuel rail to base & the depths seem to be all the same but, I installed a mock up FAST 36lb injector and it looks to me that if the injector has much of a "fan pattern" the gas will hit the ID of the injector bore? this shot is deceiving because that injector is about 1" up inside the injector hole....What do you think?????

Here is the same injector side shot with the injector bottomed out in the rail & in the intake base

Ksths2, I see what you mean about the injector being recessed way up in that bore... I'd be curious about it altering the injectors spray pattern too, and instead spraying the walls of that recess. Would need to confirm how far out, or how wide, that "fan" pattern sprays.

whaaaat? I agree, don't see how that could even happen.

I could see how this intake might be a big heat-sink vs. oe/fast, though...

FYI I just got an email back from John at "Fuel injection connection" and he said i would need an "extended tip" injector to fix this issue.....good thing I hadn't bought my injectors yet lol

WHAT, really?!??

So running this Holley Hi-ram essentially requires new custom injectors? That significantly jacks up the cost of this swap.

I can throw a couple injectors in this weekend and see what they look like with "standard" ls1 injectors.

Installed (well not final, but as it will sit for now) and on the car. My impressions....casting was a tad sloppy on the inside, I really don't like how they had all the bolts come up from the underside and have exposed holes on the top. It would have looked much nicer if the bolts holding the two halves together come in from the top rather than under it. It is about impossible to get a torque wrench on some of the bolts unless you have a little tiny 1/4" torque wrench and even then you might run into some issues. But I DO love the way it looks in the car (minus the bolt holes...might make some kind of a cover or something).

This looks badass. I really like Nelson's alien intake but that is HUGE money. Going to take some measurements and see if this will fit under the hood of my 66 Nova

shredsled, I'm still researching on the "custom" injector depth issue... I'm betting the stock size would work but still not sure if it if would be an issue if the fan pattern would actually hit the sides or not.

Here are the pics of the "MINIMUM" of how much is needed to remove out of the cowl & the plastic wiper cover on a C5 Vette.

as you can see I might need to remove a bit more depending on what fitting I'll need for the brake vacuum & MAP sensor - but it does look like its possible to run both of the wipers
Also, the fuel rails are so big on this that I had to remove alot more than first expect to make room for them & the fittings coming out of the back of them as well

And last I couldn't resist a shot of it 100% fit/installed

no, a 4" cowl might work or if you turn it around and have the tb facing backwards it might fit.

ksths2. personally i would get a stock hood or a 2 inch cowl hood. cut the hood and let the intake stick through the hood lol having a 5 inch cowl hood on your vette.... you wouldnt see ANYTHING. thats what i wanna do if i ever used that intake on a c5

Default efi ram

I have been looking at the one I have in the shop for a COPO Camaro stocker we are working on. If you cut off the front, lowered it and made a sheet metal top you could get it down to 10". Still tall but a 2.5" reduction in height. Granted, it might take some top end power out of it then again, it might not hurt it it all. Until someone is willing to test it like this we will never know.
