Default stock 317's or prc 317's?

Finishing up the planning of my engine build. going to be a 6.0l block, callies internals, diamond pistons, gt91 turbo, etc etc etc but when it comes to the heads, should I just stick with the stock 317's or should I spend the cash on a nice set of cnc machined prc 317's? Im looking to make around 850-900RWHP

Why would you limit yourself after all that money spent on the lower end by putting stock heads on? You might as well go that extra mile and just get it done now.

if your gonna spend extra cash over stock heads, why not spend that cash and get an aftermarket thick deck head?

yah, its just the price difference. I can get a nice set of cnc ported 317's for like $1500 or less complete with stainless/ti valves whereas a nice set of afr's or alike are $3,000+

i jsut went through this with my build. after alot of shopping around it was worth the extra $$ the get a set of nice new heads with no miles on them and a nice cnc port job on top of that.
i went with the prc 2.5 317s to get the better ss valves.

Yah thats the exact set I have been looking at. The AFR's 3/4" deck thickness is very tempting. But so is going with the prc 317's and saving $1500-$2000 and putting that money into a 9" rear end or nice brakes.

A GT91 will make more power than a stock head deck will handle w/o orings or similar.

TF 220's as cast, if running roller rockers, or Dart 225's with a valve job and bowl clean up for the cheapest thick deck.

If your that short on cash, the stock or GMPP cnc LS3 heads would be a better deal than cnc'd stocks catherdral heads.
Or keep surfing the classifieds on here.

$3000k plus is a lot for a set of AFR's - from experience.... out of the box 230's ~$2600+ spring upgrade will get you in the 8's with a 91mm.
