**Will the 5.3 turn T6 turbo??..
I'm building a 75 Vega 275 DR car,2300lbs PG with 4400 stall ,3.07 gear.
- 03 ,5.3L long block.
- 85mm t6 1.0ar. 4"
-blow thru carb 850cfm,proCharger blow off valve.
-60mm tial wastegate.
Should I use 317 heads? Or basic ls1 5.7?
Thinkin on custom cam, but what cam are known to work?? Out there..on a track car?
Also would like spool with Some NOS to leave awake off the stage up line.
Will be picking this 5.3long block tomorrow.. open to hear combo

IF you go 317 heads your CR will be lower thus out of boost power will feel sluggish, keep the heads original and port them,would use the ZO6 camshaft.Thinking your stall is way high..JMO

Lots of ppl running the stock comp heads on these 5.3 builds. Especially on track only set ups. I wish i woulda stayed with my stock Lm7 heads. But i traded them for 317s just for piece of mind since its a mainly street driven truck(for now). They'll lower your comp to 8.6:1 from 9.5, Its not THAT bad, but it is a turd out of boost. But you'll never really be out of boost if its a drag only car. Im running a cheap BW s475 T6 1.10ar and with the 3step on the Megasquirt i can free rev it and see 7lbs. With your stock heads or the 317s, I think you'd be fine spooling an 85mm either way. But really i dont think youll really need to go that big. Skinnies 2600lb Rx7 was running 8.6's at 167mph on a billet 76. He was also making 855hp and over 1000ftlbs to the ground on a stock 05 L33 long block. Stock heads with good springs and a Gt2-3 cam. specs on it are 207/220 .573/.580 118.5 lsa. Very similar the the 02+ Ls6 cam 204/218 .551/.547 117 lsa. His car weight and yours are close so a cam close to these would a proven performer. Post up some pics when you start the build. Good luck.

yup..been modding grand nationals for 14yrs,,,way before some were old enuff to drive.. 14 yrs ago befor ls1 tech was around,,noboby knew what a turbo was--ok maybe it was 20yrs ago )

Yes it does, torque Arm.. you knowww! All stock with afcO coils 4 corners tons of work done into this VeGA... 12 bolt anti roll bar mini tub, I know this 5.3 l turbo combo should GO... It's not alot to push in to the 1/4mile. Who in the forum is reving a5.3 with L92 heads??

I made 740 rwhp on 18 lbs with an old nmra drag radial 85mm, 101 mm t6 turbine wheel, with a 1.1 a/r could not get it to build more than 6 lbs on the starting line even after 15 sec (10 sec on step one 4300 rpm and 5 sec on step two 4500 rpm) and took 2.8 sec to get to 10 psi and then went from 10 psi to 22 in .5 sec
I am planning on spraying 63 nitrous jet first time out this year
