Default "Boost by gear" controllers?

I've been searching the net for a "boost by gear" solution for a near-future upgrade for my Miata swap....I'm not finding much in the way of recent/current products.

Are any of you guys using a controller similar to the old Innovative MSBC-1? I'm wanting something that reads "gear selection" based on the VSS, as the car is a 6-speed. Hell, I'd even go for an MSBC-1 IF I could find one new in the box.

Any thoughts?

eb2 can't use VSS. It has to have a 2 wire logic done by 4 switches to dictate 1-2-3-4 gear position mechanically on the shifter.

in any case, I don't think you want VSS to dictate the boost level. If you spin, the VSS goes up, boost goes up, spin more, etc. You want something independent of rear wheel speed, front wheel speed would be ideal.

AMS1000 can do it by time, VSS, or by switches also.

Exactly! I have an eboost2 in my fbody....not what im looking for. I'm thinking that use of a front abs sensor could be fabed up to serve the purpose somehow. I'll look into the other controllers suggested....

Thanks guys!

hks evc 6
eboost2
ams1000

i believe those are the only options for boost by gear. I used to use the evc 6, was a pain to get set up. love the **** though

The ams1000 boost by gear setup is for bikes, not easily done on cars, although it can be done, just not easy like people think, most who recommend it have never even owned one or fully read the manual.

Lingenfelter makes an adapter to let you use boost by gear by plugging into your VSS. Im going to run that on my eboost2

Problem with that, is that front wheel speed is ideal. When breaking traction with a VSS setup, wheel speed increases (obviously)....but worse, so does boost. Unless, that is, you're able to get a signal from a "non-power-driven" wheel.

Interesting information with regards to the adapter....I'll check it out.

EDIT

I checked it out... Part Number: L460050000 However, I'm not sure if it could be hooked up to something like a front wheel ABS sensor. My car does not have ABS, but I could swap one of the front knuckles for one that DOES....if the PPM would be the same. I'm not sure what it would be.

I wonder if a Dakota Digital SGI-5 speedometer converter box could be used to convert an ABS sensor signal to "MPH"....interesting. The Dakota Digital DSL2 also looks promising....

that does not work on EB2, but it could work with AMS1000.

But if I used a Dakota DSL2, and used it as a fake "rpm" signal output to the Eboost2....getting it's source signal from a front ABS sensor, I'm thinking it might. In said setup, low wheel speed would translate to "low rpm"....the faster the wheel speed, the higher the "rpm" that the Eboost2 would see. So...lower gears= lower boost. Higher gear/wheel speed= higher boost.

I'm open to second opinions here...am I thinking along the correct lines?
