First of all, i was commenting your post, you were posting incorrect data their. LM4 is ALUMINUM 5.3. period.
I was in no way commenting on his engine. Then you decided to try and tell me i was wrong again, so i gave the years of production and their codes.
I was NOT commenting on his engine, mearly your post about lm4 being 4.8 litre

FWIW,
we have had lots of these, 2-4.8s / 19-5.3s / 3-6.0s (all truck engine) ranging from 27k miles to 289k and all ran just fine in the 500whp to 700whp all stock internals (with ring gap and rod bolts only). I've paid from $200 to $350 for the smaller two and $700 to $1000 for 6.0L totally complete. All engines still had the cross hatching hone marks and bearing locked great. hell we even re-use the stock rings and bearings.
Only problems we have had was folding the rods into an "S". That only seems to happen when really stepping on it. See pics. That motor was drove 30 mile home, two new/old rods from a donor slapped back in and still running today full boost. God I love these engines, SBC never again.

Any difference between the dished pistons with the cross cast into the top and those that don't have the cross? My junk 5.3 had 2 damaged pistons. Looking to replace them cheap. Found a nice piston/rod set with the cross casting on the top that I'd like to use. Any problems? Assuming these are just newer castings maybe? Are they the same dish CC etc?
