Hi, nice build. Was thinking about doing an aluminum 5.3 turbo build also. After reading about yours I really want to now. Did you do anything to the 5.3 aluminum block to strengthen it, like pinning the mains? Forged crank? What rpms do you run it at? Regular ARP studs or 1/2"?

No block mods, stock crank, usually 7500 but it's seen over 8 before. ARP625 head studs.

Can you comment on how the VHT Flameproof paint held up on the old turbine housings, especially with the blankets on keeping all that heat in? Did you paint the new turbines with VHT as well?

I'm dying to put one of those in my car, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to integrate motor mounts without using a motor plate.

Also, any more shots of the block to frame rail clearance down low by the oil pan?

[QUOTE=00duvall;19501286]Lol....its prolly all tore apart already.....QUOTE=LS1NOVA;19493081]Just a cam...I swear lol.

The rear springs are Calvert 2" drop with a 1" billet block, 69 Camaro front hangers, and sliders flat mounted to the frame. A little bit here and there adds up.

I would not use a Smith frame with convertional mounts. I'm using a motor and mid plate. Tons of clearance around the frame and sides of the engine...so much that i've considered moving the turbos down to the sides of the block.

Hey I've been through this thread forwards and backwards and I must be too dumb to see it

But how did you make the waterpump & alt pulleys line up with the crank pulley while using the motor plate?

I'm getting ready to motorplate my truck and having brainfarts about how to make that work

Thanks bud!

If you use an old style LS1 water pump that has the double wide Camaro/Corvette pulley it just rides 1/4" further in. I cut 1/4" off the backside of the alt bracket.

That's where I want to put my (future) twins... low mount, right off the manifolds.

Just finished reading this whole thread. Great read and very informative. I love threads where people don't treat their engine specs and timing info like it's life or death information. By the way beautiful car and build.
