Changed wastegate springs. Can push it to a little over 16 lbs. now with the controller maxed out. Would like to be in the 18-19 lb. range, and may get a bigger spring to mess with.

Also, swapped in a set of 3.23's in my spare 10 bolt and installed it in the car. It's a completely different car now, I like it a lot better so far. Might get to the track this weekend to make some easy passes. I am a little hesitant to track it before the KC meet next weekend. Don't really want to chance breaking something before that. We will see.

Are you still running the 80lb injectors? If so whats the duty cycle at?
Also what FPR are you running?

Thinking of going e85 on my build now...

I am not. I am running the FIC 127# injectors now. With the 80's I was over 110% duty cycle, now I am back to a respectable level, ha.

I am running a Mallory 4305M regulator.

What fuel psi were you running when the 80's were at 110%?

I was going to stick with twin 255 and 80's for pump gas but everyone wants me to go e85... Just no close pumps and looks like I need a whole new fuel set up If I go that way.

Well now that the weather temp has gotten higher, the car is running hot now. I thought I had the problem figured out last fall but it's rearing its ugly head again. Drove the car last night and IAT's were in the 90's and ECT's were in the 190's cruising down the interstate. In town they got up over 200 and hit 215 or so when I let it idle in the drive way after driving it. I can only imagine what it would do if I drove it during the day in 90+ degree temps.

My current setup is the generic Griffin radiator with stock pullers cut to fit. I can feel them pulling a ton of air through the radiator but it's not helping at an idle. I have a 160 thermostat in it right now with 2 holes drilled in it as well. I drained the coolant and flushed the system last night, added a bottle and a half of water wetter and distilled water. Didn't seem to help much at all.

Could the trans cooler being mounted to the radiator cause it to run much hotter? I am going to relocate it at some point anyway. Could backpressure issues cause the temps to climb up high and not fall? Now that I have full exhaust on the car I know backpressure has to be up there. Might be dumb, but would leaving the cutout open reduce heat much? I am seeing about a 3-4 psi boost drop with it closed.

I also have what I believe is a slight rod knock in the bottom end. I could it hear it pretty good last night when letting it warm up on jack stands trying to get all the air out of the cooling system. I have a complete 5.3 in my garage right now as a backup motor. Thoughts on changing the LQ4 out for that? I imagine the turbo would be more efficient and probably make more peak power once I start turning it up.

I am just kind of frustrated right now with the car and not sure what to do. It won't stop me from beating the **** out of it this weekend at KC2K13 though. I will have a trailer so I won't be worried if something happens.

May need to lay the intercooler down flat to channel more air from bumper opening directly to radiator, this would for sure help while driving, and help some at idle by allowing outside air to flow to radiator. I would for sure try relocating the tranny cooler first.

Do you have a 4 port coolant cross over installed? Where is it re-entering the system? Is it going directly to the radiator on the suction side?

Does the knock sound louder when cooler, and quieter warmed up? You can cut the oil filter open and check for bearing flakes if its a bearing. If the connecting rod is bent it usually will not produce much material if any and usually what you are hearing is the crank counter weight making contact with the bottom of the piston, this is easy to spot if you pull the pan.

Ryan, I do have the 4 port steam crossover in place. It is going into a port just below the radiator cap. There is a nice steady stream of coolant coming out at all times. I am going to try to get the trans cooler relocated tonight to see if that helps.

I should have left the exhaust alone! Haha. I can now hear everything inside the car since it is so quiet running out the back. The sound seemed to quiet down a bit after the car was warm. I changed the oil the other day and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on the drain magnet. I still have the filter though and will cut it apart tonight to see if tells me anything.

Finally got the car to the track. I made three passes and the 2nd was the best one.

If you read the description of the video I was on spring pressure only going through my exhaust. Log showed 10-11 psi, 1-2 shift happened at 5300 trying to keep from spinning and I never went above 60% TPS in 1st gear. I tried turning it up a bit on the last pass but blew the tires off and ran a 12.0 @ 137. Needless to say, I am damn happy!

Damn thats a good trap for only 10-11lbs. Get that 60 down and you'll see 10.0-9.9. What's it weigh?
