It's funny to watch the tach in that video. Better knock the stop pin off the gauge cluster. lol

Very nice power curve. It's nice to see someone build a well thought out set-up with the proper turbine size to actually allow a power peak at the RPM you're achieving. Very nice Jackson.

Thanks guys, feels good to finally have it on the road putting some power down, she runs great! I really don't need to turn it up yet, it's plenty fast, but at the same time it'd sure be fun to throw down a 4 digit number.

Eventually I'd like to yes, need safety equipment for that first though! I'm thinking it will probably stay as it is for now, with the exception of more tuning for the ability to turn it upto 28-30. Then go under the knife again next winter for a cage, etc.

Thanks for the pic!

Can't wait for when I turn the limiter upto 8-8100, that will make the tach almost useless.

It pulls real hard, I love it! It is a bit later to boost compared to your average setup, around 5k before full boost. But since I can pull to 8k and still make power, my powerband is still just as broad as your typical street setup, that ranges from say 3500-6500 before they are out of steam.

It isn't a dedicated drag car by any means yet, but it will be interesting to see how I can get it to launch at the track. I will probably leave the 4.11's in, since I'll still be able to trap upto 160 with 28's. Need to get the 2 step hooked up and see what I can break!

The incar clips are great. It looks like it lights the turbo well even with the 4.11s, I would think that 3.55s would be better for street driving but it looks like your setup works very well.

Great build

Hasn't ran since July right after that dyno video when I grenaded the trans! Trans parts didn't show up until fall, so it was down the rest of the year. Then the car had an engine fire in the garage, and totaled it. Rebuilding it this winter, doing a few things different. I'll be selling the turbo kit and LS3 heads.

You really think the cam timing and turbine choices were good? Looks like very lazy very peaky even for the smallish turbine size. With bigger turbines and less cam we usually see full boost 4000-4500 rpm where he said boost in by 5000 and peak torque still isnt until 6000. My 8.4:1 comp stock 5.3 is full tilt 25 psi by 5000 rpm with junk and LS6 cam

No offense to the original poster, and I feel your pain, my 76mm turbo Firebird became a full fledged FIREbird a year ago also in a shop fire

That sucks. Thanks for the update. I can't wait to see what you are going to do next. Good luck.

I know the cam was on the big side, I used it mostly because it was available to me cheap. It was a budget build after all! It was close to what I had in mind, and I wanted to miss it to the big side anyway to move the peak torque up in the RPM range, in an attempt to keep the heads on at high boost. The sheetmetal intake wasn't yet in the picture at the time I picked the cam either, the stock less efficient LS3 intake was what I had to work with . The rest of the car didn't hang in long enough to turn it upto 30psi, but it will next time around! Using the same shortblock, smaller cam, new heads, and a new yet to be determined turbo setup.

Man that sucks to lose the car after all that work. Jakson, I was wondering if you did any oiling mods to the block for your build. I believe the 6.0 blocks are not priority main oiling and to me that along with the hydraulic roller setup would be considered weak links in a high RPM pushrod engine. I love the idea of the destroked 6.0's spinning high RPM but I believe no one has really addressed the oiling issue. I can see more people doing these high RPM destroked 6.0 builds in the future and can also see many people with spun bearings because of improper oiling. These are just thoughts of mine and in the end factual input to the matter will help the LS community with these builds.

7500rpm is nothing for a hydraulic roller that has good parts and was set-up well.

TMK none of the factory LS blocks utilize priority main oiling. We have turned many stock blocks with good parts to 8000rpm+ with our own engines and customers engines.

I don't think Jakson has anything to worry about there.

When we do turn them that high we use aftermarket oil pans, remote mount filters(biggest we can fit in the location being utilized) and do few modifications to the block itself. Nothing major, but just "tricks of the trade" that most competent machinists like Jakson's I'm sure can perform.

Thanks for your input and you didn't mention a high flow oil pump but I'm sure that is also used.
