Not quite a t6 flange though, you have to oval out some of the bolt holes.

I have a friend with a LS2 GTO with an HX55, it spools pretty quick. He has the billet titanium comp wheel version, which is pretty nifty.

The turbo's frame is pretty huge compared to the size of the wheels. What are the measurements on yours? They seem to vary pretty considerably.

if its a hx52 or hx 55 they flow about 95-98lb/min so should be good for atleast 600whp. i have seen as much as 900 online though

It looks to me that the exhaust side is plenty larfe enough to support say 500whp and from the flow rate it seems like it should be good for a bit of power. Ive been told that this is about the same flow rate as a garrett gt45 turbo if that helps anymore with size wise.

Tear it apart and measure the inducer. I'm going to most likely be running two hx52's on my audi build

What size is the turbine housing? It should be cast in... 12cm is likely a hx52 ,larger and it is likely a 55.

The only real info I have found on using hx52s on gas engines is a few DSM guys using them to push 600ish hp at 30lbs. It should work fine on a larger v8 but as of yet I haven't found anyone that has tried it. I'm planning on giving a hx52 a go on my 98 z28 but I have to get everything else in line first.

the holset hx52 has a few different exhaust housing, mainly either a 16cm^2 or an 18cm^2..

I'm using one for my 3800 build, I plan on running 16-20 lbs on it. They are great turbos to use being a journal bearing. They can be had for cheap and last forever.

The only beef I have with them is the wacked out measurements of the outlet and the inlet flange.

The outlet vband measures 3.5" id and 4.75" od....soooo, in order to overcome this, I am using a 4" id and 4.75" od flange welded to a 4"-3" reducer.

The inlet flange is a T4, yet the bolt center to center length long ways is about 1/8th-a quarter inch longer.

The inlet flange is a T5 and you can have the OD of the hotside discharge turned down on a lathe to a standard 4" OD flange or cut it off and weld on a new one.

I thought about throwing it on my lathe, but i dont mind doing the 4.75" od flange lol

umm are you sure on the t5? because im not getting a T5 measurement on mine..I ordered a flange from a company that is specified as a flange just for a 52

I used 1 on my Pontiac G8 GT. It works great even as a rear mounted turbo setup. It spools by 4k even 17ft from the engine. I ran 7 LBS of boost and on virtual dyno software it was right at 500whp and 460ft lbs with only 9 degs of timing. The exhaust housing is a 16cm2 which someone said would be to small for a 6.0L but I ran out of RPM before the turbo ran out of steam. The dyno chart showed WHP climbing when it shifted at 6200. I did have it boosting higher but ran out of fuel before the car hit 4500RPM. Anyway to answer your question and bring a old topic back yes hx52 works on v8 engines and I think it works well.

I'll look when I get home to see if I can find a cm on the hot side. This will be going on a pretty much stock 4.8 with maybe a cam and gasket matched heads

That holset looks like one of the Chinese knock offs. I run a holset hx52 on my iron 5.3 with an ls6 cam, boost is a little laggy but when it hits it hits hard. I'm on 12 pounds and made 571 to the rear wheels threw a t56 and a 410 rear end. If I remeber correctly the cold side SHOULD be a billet wheel.and if you do have the 16cm housing it will be roughly a 1.21 A/R.
