Got someone to weld up the radiator pipes for me and polished them up.

Also had someone offer to help me make some aluminum inserts for my motor mount that melted so I took advantage of it! Turned out nice and shouldn't have to worry about the heat with it this way (hopefully)!

Also got the correct length belt figured out for the new alternator bracket and set the intake back on. Hopefully it'll be ready to fire up again by this weekend!

looking great! im building about the same combination engine and turbo but will be going with the holley Hi ram intake. what power goals are you looking at? also what brand timing chain and oil pump is that? did you have to clearance the front cover to clear the double row timing chain?

Thanks. Timing chain is a JP Performance 5615T and the oil pump was a ported and shimmed from DiabloFormula. The front cover did need some grinding. Took about an hour trying to make it work.

Power goals are whatever it makes. lol
Going to hopefully max out the fuel system and turn it back down a notch.

Can't jump the gun! It's still only a 13.6 car until I get it back to Cedar Falls.

Theoretically I should be able to make around 900rwhp on a dynojet based on my calculations with these injectors and pumps.

Also, if 2 255's are good for around 800 and 2 416's are good for at least 1200 (on e85) the combination should be good for 1000. The injectors will be what holds me back (again). lol

I'm only hoping for a minimum of 800 to make it worth the switch to ethanol. I guess we'll see what happens. And yes, I know a dyno is only a number, but whatever. haha

We will have to try and meet up at Cedar Falls when it opens. I am dying to see what my car will do. Making some fuel system changes here in the next couple of weeks so hopefully my stock bottom end and stock 4L80e hold together, ha. Oh, and my 10 bolt too, lol.

I looked, might have missed it, but what rear do you have in your car?

I am debating on whether or not to throw my 3.42 10 bolt back under the car now that I have a 28" tire out back. I have a set of 3.23 gears to throw in the stock rear but not sure I want to mess with that expense at this point. The 2.73's are nice for cruising on the highway but the converter feels really loose. Chris @ circle d said going to a higher numerically gear should tighten it up some, or I could send it back. Not really wanting to pull the trans though, ha. How is the 80e with the 3.42's? Plenty of load on the motor to spool your turbo still I assume?

Yeah, still spools fine. seems to be fully spooled by 3500ish when it's unlocked. A little sooner if I try to roll into the throttle while it's locked. What are your RPMs at on the highway with that combo tire/gear? I'm thinking when I do finally break down and buy a 9" I'll probably go with a 3.00 gear no matter what tire I'm running. I just don't like 2500 rpm down the highway lol. I want my t56 back!

Everyone has different experiences with them. If I remember correctly 01z28Camaro was running a 10 bolt in his silver car making some pretty good power and daily driving it. So far so good with mine *knock on wood*. I do not expect it to last forever though just to be clear. When it goes out I will not be surprised, but for now It hasn't shown any signs of weakness. I'm hoping as long as I stay away from launches and any hard downshifts it will live for a little while, but only time will tell!

I haven't drove on the new tires very far, but with the 26" tires I am running around 1800 rpm @ 70 mph. It's basically like having 6th gear still, ha. 9" is in my future as well and I am more than likely going with a 3.25 gear.

Hmm... That's pretty low! Haha

Maybe I'll have to rethink that choice. I've got some time before I'll even be able to afford a rear anyways.

Wow man super clean build so far keep up the good work can't wait to see some power numbers. I'm thinking it should do 750whp easy on 13-15psi locked converter on pump gas. them square port heads will move some air lol. Should still have a good torque curve an make good peak torque using using the OEM ls3 intake manifold

I was thinking it would make 700 on pump gas pretty easy which was why I am hoping for at least 800 to make it worth the switch to e85. Thanks for the compliment.

O yea on e85 prob do 800-825whp on the some boost level as pump gas u will see the gains from the added timing (like 5-8degs) an lower iat with the e85, your fuel mileage is going to suck on the e85 but u can make almost the same power most make on race gas for less then half the price a gallon

I've got a pretty good idea what I'm getting into by making the switch. Have discussed it a bit with a few different people and understand what the cons are. I have been a bit skeptical ever since I had others recommending it to me, but doing some research and having those discussions kind of put my mind at ease. I know there's going to be some more oil changes. Well, maybe... I will only drive the car a max of 4k miles a year usually and planned to change oil twice a summer with gasoline anyways. Going to stick to that plan, but worst case scenario I add another change in there. I'm not all that worried about it currently. Thanks though!

Hurry up and get this thing done!! I've been waiting to see what this thing can do since we have almost the exact same build. The only difference is the cam and I am using LSA heads. Nice car!!!

You and me both! I'm not planning to have dyno numbers until at least May 4 since there it's a car show/dyno day going on. The problem is people are bidding on dyno spots so they can go for as much as $150 depending on how people feel. Lol
