***Pics of new turbo***Spec my Comp Billet 80mm Turbo!
So, i have been following KILLER-LS1's build where he just purchased a 88/94mm turbo from Comp and seems to be having problems with his turbine not flowing enough for his compressor. I've decided that i'm taking my oil-less 80/79 turbo back to them before i even go down the road with extreme backpressure. With that being said, i am gonna have a custom 80mm turbo built by them with a larger turbine...don't know if i want to go t4 or t6 or what size turbine to go with. Killer-ls1's 88mm compressor flows so well that it's out flowing his 94mm turbine so i know for sure that my little 79mm turbine ain't gonna cut it with the billet 80mm compressor. Either way i'm gonna stick with them, so can some of the experienced turbo guys give opinions on what turbine size you would use with the 80mm compressor and what housing...t4 or t6?
Combo is 364ci lq9, tfs 235's, VaSpeed vtc3 cam th400 with 8.5 GN rear. Goals are 900-1000rwhp
What do you guys think?

It is the theory, but no one is for sure thats the problem. I would go really big because of the theory that these turbos flow so well. I am not sold on them yet. There was a lot of hype about them, but they have yet to prove themselves. If you can send it back to them and get your money back. Get a turbonetics or another brand that is proven. Just my 2 cents.

I have the virginia speed vtc-3 turbo cam. On there website they said it's specifically made for a stock cube 6.0 with a 80mm turbo...here's the link. It's a reverse split cam.
Specs are supposedly 23x-23x .61x-.60x, here's the description from the website... "This is great cam for a 370-383 cid engine with an 80mm turbo,also work well in mild 402-1000+rwhp is no problem for this cam.has a good idle."

I'm gonna do the 94mm turbine should i go t6 1.32ar or the biggest t4 i can find? I think they have a t4 around 1.50ar that isn't listed.

I would really want a bigger turbine on a motor the size of yours with a cam that big, you can't have an evo as early as that cam will have with an undersized turbine wheel. It's like trying to get in the front door of a jam packed house party with no room to move around inside. Your trying to get in the front door, but because no one is moving inside and there is no where for them to move to you can't get in the door.
Same philosophy and theory with an early evo and a turbine wheel that is too small. Corny metaphor, but it's the best way I can describe it so everyone will understand.

I don't have anything against them I just like to use what I know personally works and I know several cars, again...personally that use the BW stuff and just flat haul the mail and have never had an issue.
I would really want a bigger turbine on a motor the size of yours with a cam that big, you can't have an evo as early as that cam will have with an undersized turbine wheel. It's like trying to get in the front door of a jam packed house party with no room to move around inside. Your trying to get in the front door, but because no one is moving inside and there is no where for them to move to you can't get in the door.

Good metaphor to get the point across. Amazing how many people mismatch cams and you seem to point that out a lot.

Right now i do have the comp 8079, i'm sending it back and i'm gonna go 8094. Are you saying the 94mm turbine is still too small??? I noticed the s480 has a 96mm turbine. My problem is that i've had this turbo for 5 months now and they may be unwilling to refund. They are willing to make the specs right though.

The 80/94 would be a midframe turbo in the CT5X series. It can be T4 or T6 from the post above.
Also you guys have to remember a T6 0.90a/r is larger than a T4 0.90a/r for example. Also you have T4 small frame and T4 midframe. If you have bolts on your exhaust housing you have a small frame. Fully v-bands are mid/large frame.

You've already spent the money on it and use the 1.39 T6 housing. If it doesn't do what you want then you can re-do it. Is that the biggest wheel they have for that frame?

Alright, so knowing that comp can get the gt50 or gt55 wheels what size compressor would you use on my combo? I wanted to go with a 80mm originally because i've heard that, that size turbo is hard to beat on a 370. But, now i'm starting to think I should go bigger since the spool will be a lot better Than the cast borg warner since the comp has a billet Compressor and ball bearings (lighter wheel should allow me to go bigger, yet have the same spool as a cast 80mm). Should i go with a 88mm with the gt50 wheel and a 1.08 ar t6? Or go 88mm Billet ball-bearing compressor with the gt55 wheel at 102ind 112exd and a small .90 ar t6 housing? What do you guys think? At this point i can pretty much get what ever size i want for my 364 lq9. Let me know what you'd go with and why.
