You have to look at the big picture just like everyone was saying. On the street, a D1 making decent boost is hard to hook up sometimes, so stepping up to an F1? is also going to be even harder.
For a primarily street car, I say D1, as they are easier to come by used and will still make upwards of 700+ pretty easily with the right mods on the car. If you're looking for silly power, then F series all the way.

Power is addicting as everyone hear can attest to.. My vote is for an F1 series blower.. Do it right the first time..Wish I would have taken my own advice.. But i have and still am having a lot of fun with the D1..

Still reading and learning alot about forced induction. How much effort does it take to switch out the D1 headunit over to F1 style?? Is it just a direct swap? I know you will need a better bracket to help with belt slippage but what parts are necessary. Thanks.

I went to an F1A and barely breaking in the motor with it. Big difference to me is the the amount of heat an F1A puts out, ALOT!!! If your intrested I have my D-1 with twins an other goodies for sale.
I'm sure the f1A overall is a lot better supercharger but if you don't intend to buy the supporting mods to fully max it out then the d1 will suite you just fine. I've learned the hard way e.g buying twice I'm going to have to step up to 100 lb + injectors and a 2 1/2 map when I finally decide to tune it. So what ever you do have a plan.
There's that line noone tells you about when you buy an f1a everything costs more. Clutches (twins), injectors, map sensors scan tools. That's just my opinion but I have found that going with an F1A was the easy part. It's the other **** you need to be concerned with.

Yes, it is a direct swap. Inlet and outlet sizes are identical, and it has the same volute diameter. The D-1SC has a 4.10/1 gear ratio and the F series has a 5.40/1 gear ratio, which means you don't run nearly as small of a pulley on the F series. Bob

Thanks for the reply, How much louder is the F1A than the D1SC with the different gears. I have looked at tons of videos its just hard to get an idea of real life.

You're welcome. The F-1A is quite a bit louder at idle. Once you're headed down the road, it isn't really any different. Bob

Maybe these Q help out me and the OP.
I'm thinking of upgrading to an F1a from my D1. How much boost and HP does a F1a make compared to a D1-sc? I have a built motor 396, 9.5 compression, H/C/I, 1-7/8 headers and all supporting mods. 7.65 crank pully. Meth and 93 pump gas. I have max out my D1 and get about 15 to 17 lbs most of time with no filter. Mostly 15lbs. I shift at 6500. Just wondering how much more boost and HP I might be getting on a maxed out F1a, and does the power come in faster with the F1a? It is hard to hook on street now.
