i put valve springs in it last week. i went back to the dyno two nights ago and retuned it. didnt pick up alot of power but the motor runs way smoother through the RPMs and the tune was waaay off with the valve springs in. no matter what we tried it just wouldnt pick up in the higher rpms. i could throw more boost at it and of course it would make more power (linearly) but id have to make so many other changes (fuel type etc) its not worth it. the car weighs 2800 lbs so its a rocket with 600WHP. a set of 243s and a cam would easily put this thing close to 700WHP but im not ready to chance losing the motor. the car is simply too much fun to drive to chance it.

Altitude will limit the overall power (you could make up for that with a little more boost), but shouldn't effect the rpm range should it? Would be interesting to pin the gate open (or remove it) and make a pull and see if it changes the curve.
Right, but it shouldn't drop power like that at 4800rpm should it? Z06 redline is 6500. If he has new springs and they aren't floating, it should still make power past 4800 IMO.
This is a stock z06 dyno graph.

I feel it's peaking right where it should given those events. The late evo is killing the curve after hp and torque peaks. The early IVC is controlling that early 4800rpm peak.
I would specify a 36-38 IVC event and a 48-52 EVO event while keeping overlap in the -6 to -2 range.
This would IMO give him a 5800-6000rpm peak while carrying that power to 6500rpm.
You also have to keep in mind that pressure in the exhaust of a turbo engine is going to keep cylinder evacuation stifled more so than a N/A, Blower or a N20 engine.
Thus causing a turbo engine to peak sooner than it would in N/A form.
Altitude will also kill off RPM potential due to less cylinder fill taking place at higher piston speeds. Thus reducing the operating range of the engine.

I'm guessing you added timing and cleaned up the fueling to achieve this correct?

thats EXACTLY what we did martin lol. A/F was in the low 10s after i put springs in it. we had to pull a **** ton of fuel out of it to get it in the mid 11s. after that we added a degree of timing and made a pull. then we added another degree and made another pull. then we turned the meth on and the last graph i posted was the numbers. in all we added 2 degrees of timing and pulled out close to 15% fuel. car runs way better now all around.

That is odd... mine pulled past 6500 with a $90 zr1 cam. Ls1/ls6/l33 cams would be a great cheap upgrade. Good luck.
---End Quote---
Your ZR1 cam has a 49 IVC event and a 56 EVO. His LS6 cam has a 42 IVC event and a 37 EVO event.
Huge difference.
