Default My Twin Turbo 1968 Chevelle Build Start To Finish- Lots of Pics!

Ok, so I finally decided to make a thread about my Chevelle. Been a building cars for a while. Seems that every year I build one and sell it. What can I say..I love making cars go fast!

I originally intended this to be a LS powered Chevelle before I bought it. I was going to start off N/A then do the turbo kit over this winter....but that wasn't soon enough. So after 2 months of working on it at night after the kids were asleep it was a reality.

This car was originally a Calafornia car ended up in Florida. It never lived near salt. This is not a show car but it is a VERY nice driver. The car retains every option and then some. Weighs in at 3950lbs., I am 210lbs.

I wanted a pump gas reliable 9 second car that I could drive to the track and back.

Enjoy!

Shafiroff 402 that was in the car when I bought it.

This was what I started with. However, a board member on this site tried to bend me over. Sold me this motor missing head bolts, rockers, and other misc items. It was going to be a stock drop in but I went through the whole thing. Oh yeah, the board member compensated me with the use of my Attorney. I hate scammers! Moving on!

I rebuilt the 6.0 Truck LS bottom half, new bearings, rings (gapped for big boost), and ARP rod bolts.

LS9 Gaskets and Studs

Tapped all the steam ports with 1/8npt

I went through the #317 heads and installed some nice dual valve springs with titanium retainers.

Adjustable solid motor mounts

The final resting spot

Hotside to turbine inlet fabbed up.

Passenger side downpipe fabbed up.

Drivers side downpipe was REALLY tight!

BOV opening

BOV installed

Intercooler mounted

Cold side fabbed up

Twin -10an oil returns

Twin Walbro 255lph in the tank

She Runs!

Drove it around with the Art Carr 2004R and then it was time for the built 4L80E!

Some pics of the car.

Picks up the tire at the end of the 60ft

Car has gone 10.2 @ 135mph @ 13.7lbs of boost on pump gas and meth. This was on a 95* day with track temps over 120*. 3950lb raceweight.

This was done with with a 2001 LQ4 Stock Casting 317's and a stock rod & piston.

This setup makes a TON of power. Funny thing is at that boost level it was just starting to become effecient. Another 8-10lbs of boost would be stupid with a forged short.

I've been tossing around the idea of selling the car and building something else again. If anyone is interested I would consider selling it for $35k.

Great job man, beautiful car! Turn the boost up and make that 9 sec pass you were looking for. I'm spraying 300rwhp on my stock head, stock bottom end 99 ls1. I know with the proper tune your 6.0 will make a solid 9 sec pass.

I'm completely Jealous. The 68 Malibu was my first car when I was 16 years old. I'm 37 now, so the classic car scene was limited back then in my generation.
But I did everything in that car and I miss that car so bad. I'm actually thinking of purchasing another one later on when funds allow and when my boys are a bit older. I've always liked the 68's over the 69's due to the few differences, but for some reason, most prefer the 69 year models more.

Bad *** for sure! Keep up the good work. I'll be following this one for sure.
