Shomespeed has a dual intake 255 setup (comes with the y fitting and everything).. That and 2 hot wire kits were 361$ shipped to me. The hobbs switch they sell IIRC was 35$? That would put you under 400$ and your fuel would be done and well more than enough to handle what you are looking for.

Just a thought.. Fuel is definitely not something you want to cheap on or short... Skip something else now to do this right now.

Not skimping out on fuel. It's proven my fuel setup is good to 550rwhp which is far above what I'm looking for. Right now I'm looking to be in the 480-500rwhp mark at most. My tuner can watch my fuel anytime I need to and if I ever up the boost that far I will take care of fuel before I do so it's not going to be a problem. Thanks for the advice though I'll def look into it when the time comes. At the moment I'm not going to be dumb and put more power to the ground that I can afford. I need the engine to last because I can't afford for it to go boom and tuning it safe with 500hp less should keep it running just fine. Now the tranny I already know won't last long so it is in my $ plans. As soon as it goes I will be getting a build FLT or RPM trans

I'd consider a 4l80... Stock with a shift kit should handle the power you are wanting to make and you can upgrade it later if you would want.

You would come out much cheaper than a built 4l60 and it would handle your power goals. People are having great success with that setup at moderate power levels.

I have a built 4l60e, but it is because it came with the car. I wouldn't buy one.

And where is a good place to find a stock 4l80e? I will need a lot off conversion stuff also won't I?

Are the stock belt tensioners not good? Anything that I don't 100% need I probably won't buy until it breaks lol.

This isn't the video I was thinking of, but it will do. The stock one flexes so much since it is sprung. Just buy the solid tensioner and you won't regret it. Katech makes one, and some dude on eBay does as well- I think his name is Ed.

ETA: Here is a video of a standard tensioner on a Procharger kit. I know this isn't the serpentine tensioner mentioned above, but I just saw the video. More reason to go with something like the Aster bracket.

I just picked up a larger idler pulley with higher walls on it and that solved my belt tossing issues.

it wont brake, the belt starts to walk off the pulley... i would say that its a needed thing unless u wanna check ur main belt every time u drive and put it back on because more than likely it will start slipping off

My vortech build started at 2500 for the full kit. I also use an 8 rib set up (ATI super balancer) and 42lbs injectors (48 with our fuel pressure) I also run an Aeromotive 340 pump, and racetronix hotwire kit. It has a 9lbs pulley but only see's 6.1 pounds with the ls6 heads/cam I have. I think your going in the right direction and should make good power with it. Prochargers do end up costing more money to run them but in turn do make more power then I could with what I have.

Well I'm excited to get this finished, but I'm starting a job soon working 60+ hours a week and need to find an apartment so I prob have to put this build on hold a little longer

So.. What ever happened to this? I'm thinking about following your footsteps..

I'm already at 430rwhp and I'd like to jump up a little more and think a supercharger would be really sweet.. $4,500 for the whole shebang sounds doable..

Should be able to do it even a little cheaper!

Yes if you just keep your eye open for parts on here it's not that difficult! I also put a nice used kit on my c5 z06 and made some pretty good power! Good luck

I have most of the parts that go into ProCharger kits listed at the above link, should you buy a used kit that is missing some parts. Bob
