It really depends on who you ask everyone has an opinion on it. I like methanol better, in my opinion it has hands down better control on detonation then ethanol fuel. It also has a far better cooling effect as well, hence why you never see ethanol injection kits. To each his own.
ethanol is awesome, but imo it doesnt come close to methanol.

another thing with running methanol is, it mixes with nitromethane!!!

We added 12% nitro to our first q8 dragster 871 BBC and it was running 7.30's on just methanol. With the 12% it ran 6.91, even pick up 3 psi in the same air and pulleys. Cool stuff for sure man.

ive never used it but ive heard of accounts of 10-20 percent lowering ets. 2-3 tenths. crazy powerful stuff without a doubt.

i find it interesting that it also picked up boost with the same air and pulleys. interesting.

It never really made sense to me either, there could have been some other variable I'm not thinking of ... Not sure.

in my case i gained psi but i thought it was the wastegate not being able to fully exhaust enough gas.

exact same wastegate springs.stock 6.0, 317 heads

on e85 it would get 9psi
switched to methanol it went to 11 psi
added a big cam and 1 pt compression 11.5 psi

Coming along nicely!

I was at Chris Chow's GN dyno session where he smoked the tires on the dyno.
It was a spare motor that Bob Reiger raced 394ci Duttweiller built with twin T76's. He went high 7's on stock style front/rear suspension. Eventually it flipped over on its lid at a high speed and luckily he wasn't hurt.

Anyway.... be careful with that machine. It is going to be crazy.

I could see it making a difference with a turbo car due to the added exhaust gases with Methanol. Also alot of variables there too.

Well things have slowed way down, with very little getting done lately. Up pipe is now complete with BOV installed. Also finally got the valley gasket, so that is all done and installed. Last thing completed was the steam lines.

Sorry to be a douche and not look through the thread (but I'm at work and shouldn' tbe on here anyway...lol) but what trans are you running? TH400? Glide? Those are some wicked wheelstands you're pulling and wondering if a glide would calm you down a little bit on the launch.

(My comment is more for selfish reasons as I am thinking about going Glide from 4L80e and mae the car strictly a race car...haha )

Its a Stage 2/3 Extreme Automatics th400. I'm not sure how a glide would like my heavy car (guessing 3850 lbs race weight this year) and lots of tq? I'm hoping I can control the wheel stands alittle with limiters and the AMS 1000 this year. The new susp, whenever that happens, will alow me to control it totally then.

We have glides in all of our other cars, 2 Vegas (2300 to 2450lbs) and a dragster (1688lbs) and they are great but very light race weights.

Here's a list of trans and their weights I compiled years ago. (no converter or fluid)

P/G (w/ Cooling holes 95lbs
Turbo 350 124lbs
700r4 133lbs
Turbo 400 136lbs
4L60e 161lbs
4L80e 179lbs

YES!!!! Goddammit!!!!

Someday...I make a little bit of progress every week. My pops is getting on my case to start restoring his '68 GTO so that will be pulling most of my available time for car stuff...could be worse I guess!

Always in for updates on this!

Thanks man.

The solid mounts were reused from the SBC (Moroso pt# 62630 & 62510) and the adapters to LSx block (and any other ls blocks) are Edelbrock pt# 6701.
