Sweet deal. I'll get ahold of him either tomorrow or Friday to place my order.

I'm just new to even knowing about microsquirt, and I wondered what the advantages of going this route over stock wiring harness mod and ECU? I think it would be a bit cheaper, but not a lot, and I'm thinking this may be easier to tune wilder combos (lots of boost). It also will be cleaner looking w/fewer wires. But I also think if you are basically running a stock configuration (w/maybe a cam upgrade) that perhaps the factory (especially newer) ECMs give better overall performance? Just cost a little more? Just trying to understand why one would rather go w/microsquirt rather than mod factory wiring/ECM tuning. Thanks for educating me.

very simple scenario, with a microsquirt you can put this on your th400, turbo ls powered car for 400 dollars. or less. and run 30lbs of boost, and change the tune while the car is running.

try adding up a speed density (hpt/efilive) / stock ecu / swap harness for that price

Don't forget the ve analize that they the software does.

You drive around and it tunes itself. Its the single most impressive thing I have seen out of a tuning software package

I agree--this is what I was thinking in my post. but for a basically stock setup you can get wiring harness for ~$400 & mail order tune for $150 (or more). That's not that much more expensive, if you start with a complete nice harness and ECM. But if not, or going wild (turbo, non-stock trans), microsquirt a better deal.

I didn't know about this; I'll have to read up how this works--I had a tuner do my ECM.

Copied from my post last night in reply to Goldhawg same question.

'Real time tuning of fuel and spark while the engine is running is my biggie. Next is the fact that the software is free so no credits to buy or special interface. Total cost using junk yard harness connectors is less than $400. Throw in a cam and tuning is still simple as well as wideband o2 sensor input allows exact fuel map tuning. Another feature is auto tune. It self tunes the fuel table to bring fuel ratios to commanded afr. It works with naturally aspirated as well as boosted engines. It also works on any lsx based engine or most every other us and foreign engines. Make any change to the engine and retuning is still free and easy.'

While the software is free and there is no credit system, its important to note that you have to register the software in order for the ve analize live (auto tune) to work. You also get some other features like difference reports if you have a msq loaded in tunerstudio that differs from the calibration on the controller box. I don't remember what the cost is but I licensed that and the log software for like 70 bucks or something

No Cisco licensing where you have to license the license? Lol

where is everyone getting the coil pack LQ4 7 pin male connector with pigtail from, i cant find any at the junk yard because they take the eng. harness with the motor around here.
is it ok to use weather-pack connectors for this.

You can go to any "u-pull-it" type yard, and cut it from a 3.8 liter front wheel drive GM car.

The plug from the fuel injector harness(on the engine harness side) of these cars will be the same, but the wire colors will not be correct.

It will look like this.

http://www.casperselectronics.com/st...oducts_id=1322

The other end, that is hooked to the coil pack harness is like this.

http://www.casperselectronics.com/st...oducts_id=1328

Both of those are on a front wheel drive 3.8 liter Buick engined GM car, at the fuel injection harness.

So, for one Microsquirt install you would need to cut them from two cars, to get enough for both sides of the LS engine.

Hope that helps.

Wink

Why not just totally eliminate the connector? It is not needed and removing it simplifies the harness and reduces the parts count. I just separate each of the actual coil connectors and cut off their brown wire. Then wire the 8 individual coil connectors as part of the main harness.

[QUOTE=denmah;17076945]** 5-8-13

now to mod for LSX use you will need, 1x 1k ohm, 1/4 watt resistor, and 2x 4.7k ohm 1/4 watt resistors.
clip them short, and solder wires on the ends, about inc or inch and a half on each end and shrink wrap around them so they cant touch each other or short on the board pins, youll see in my picture below...

What size wire are you using

You don't need any heavy gage wire as there is little to no current running through them.

Thanks I'm going to mod my 2 micro's now and see how long it takes.
3:26 pm = stop typing and start getting out the soldering-gun.
4:14 pm = done setting up solider station.
4:26 pm = done with #1 Micro
4:40 pm = done with #2 Micro.

That was easy no wire needed just .40 cents worth of resistors and some heat shrink.

Its going to take the iron longer to heat up than it is to solder 6 joints
