So I finally got the car on the dyno a couple nights ago. I really just wanted to see where I was at as I have only street tuned it. I had some confusion with the dyno guy as the torque numbers were off the wall. The rpm pick up wasn't reading the rpm correctly which he kept telling me didn't matter, obviously it does. After doing some reading it seems a dynojet will give speed based horsepower but will not give torque as it needs rpm to figure that. Anyway it made 550 on 11 psi and 12 degrees of timing, 200 degree air temps and 11.2 afr. I would have liked to turned the boost up and tried to make some more power but at the time I didn't understand why the readings were so weird, really disappointed the dyno guy didn't understand this either but oh well. I also had the damn car strapped down to the rim as it smoked the tires the first couple pulls. I plan on going back with my drag radials, make sure the rpm pickup is reading, and get it up to 600. In reality my car and tires cant really use anymore power yet but 600 sounds cooler than 550.
Disregard the torque

Great setup!! One day I'll do this in a clean 242. Until then, I'm thinking ab throwing a 4.8/5.3 in a 9 series wagon to haul my daughters around...
More videos please!!

Thanks guy's, these cars are still dirt cheap and pretty easy to swap. Maybe after all the fox bodies are gone volvos will be next
Here is a quick vid of a previous failed dyno attempt but it still sounds cool. My car just doesn't seem to like the dyno. Saturday test and tune opens next weekend so I'm going to take it to the track and hope it gets some traction on a prepped surface.

Finally got it to the track, only got 3 runs in before I got in trouble for lack of safety equipment. Pass was only on 10 pounds. Drove it to a from the track, didn't have to fix anything. I know tens are pretty boring for most of you guys but I'm excited as hell

dude
do not downplay driving to the track, going high tens and driving home on something you built, be proud of that ****!
excellent work! that is great, and what i expect trap speed wise on 10psi!
awesome!

Thanks guys. I had actually tried to turn the boost up a tick via my manual controller but after looking at my logs it did not change. I think my 6 pound wastegate spring just isn't going to let me get any more, I will have to get a bigger spring. And yeah still the ls9 cam, the heads have never even been off the block, still stock bolts and gaskets. I love this damn gt45, I had the two step set at 1500 rpm for all my passes and only on my last did I give it full throttle on the two step, damn thing builds boost at 1,500. I was so shocked how well it hooked at the track, the car is worthless on the street until third gear. So glad the tech guy was cool, I ran an 11.003 my very first pass and the lady giving the slips said I was done. So I went and talked to the head tech guy and he told me I could keep running but as soon as I ran a ten I was done, only got two more passes.

SWEET RIDE!!! And this (above) is some great info. I don't remember what rear end gear you're running, but is this converter fairly efficient for cruising on the freeway?

3.08 gear, i got 4mpg more just with the converter swap. It really does drive around like a stock car now, I never even felt it shift in drive with my old generic summit racing 3000 stall. It used to hit the limiter at 130 mph, now it goes 150, so yeah I would call it efficient. Funny thing is the guy at PTC, I think his name was Lane, never even asked me what stall I wanted. Just asked power, turbo, motor, weight, gear, and what I wanted to do with the car, and they nailed it perfectly.

Cool, thanks!
So what would you estimate the stall speed to be on this one, and what MPG does that extra 4 put you at?
What a COOL car! I think maybe a TH400 is something to consider over a 4L80e that I had been pretty set on before... Your car is probably really light though, isn't it? Lightness always helps make for a nice combo.

I have honestly never even tried to flash it, the damn turbo builds boost so quick on the 6.0 it just blows through the brakes faster than I can look at my tach. That's why I have my two step set so low, lets it build boost but not enough rpm to push through the brakes. If I drive at 70ish and stay out of the throttle it gets 18-20mpg, I run it at 16.5 afr on the freeway. I have never actually weighed it it but probably around 32-3300 with me in it
