Great project. Car looks sharp too.

I regret putting a gen 1 small block in my ’69 last year rather than doing what you’re doing but I missed driving a first gen Camaro and was in hurry.

Sure thing. Ill post all the way up to the dyno and track numbers.
This is a DIY build. If anyone has any questions about any of the hot pipe fab or any of the combo just ask.

Great build man. I love to see budget oriented stuff. How did the truck intake and accessories fit? I've got a spare 5.3 begging to be put into my 68 camaro, but I'd rather not spend $2000 in swap parts to install a $500 motor.

Hi,

Curious about 3 things.

Where is the exhaust going to route?

And, since you have a very nice car, are you going to remove and clean everything at some point?

Everyone always says truck manifolds. What truck? Every truck can't have the same manifolds....correct?

I'm gathering parts for my L33 swap into my Nova. So will face similar challenges. I have the manifolds that came with the engine which is from an 06 Silverado.

Keep up the good work.

Ron

It really is all trucks. It's the three bolt flange back the differs. I have truck manifolds off a silverado and a gmc van. The van has a exhaust that goes almost straight back and the truck goes down to clear the fire wall.

Truck intake fit great, all the truck accessories fit great but I didn't use the power steering pump because it has a manual box.

I'm almost done with the down pipe and will post a picture later. It is running down and across the front of the front of the motor and exiting in front of the front tire. Being in Louisiana noise isn't an issue.

The motor is in for mock up. It will come out for a good cleaning, oil bung in the pan, cam and spring swap.

Most all the truck exhaust manifolds are the same. They change a little bit over the years. It's best to get the newer ones without the egr port.

Thanks. That exh GREATLY simplifies the install. I can't do that, live in the city.

Later on I am going to reroute the down pipe so instead of shooting down and out it will make a little s turn by the passenger head and run down the fender well and out the back. Right now I'm just trying to get it going.

Update: pulled motor back out and cleaned. As far as the motor, I did a ls6 cam swap, Pact dual valve spring, GM 7 layer mls head gaskets and head studs. I ended up ditching the truck intake and going with an edelbrock victor jr and elbow. Which led to alot more work. Only a few more things left to finish up and she is off to the dyno!

About that.... I have the trans dapt motor mount kit, bbc solid motor mounts and sbc frame mounts. I had to "modify" the bbc motor mounts to fit around the frame mounts and flip the ears of the pass. Side motor mount around to line up right. None of this would have to been done if I had f-body ls1 pan. The GM hotrod swap pan hit the cross member by about an 1/8" so I had to get the motor up.
