Default Which Stall Converter are you guys in the 9's Using with your F/I setup?

As the title says, I would like to hear what you A4 guys that are in the 9's are runing for stall converters, i.e. stall speed, brand of converter and STR on the stall as well if you know it.

I'm thinking about going back to a Yank SS3600 for my setup since I had really good luck with it the first time. Only reason I went with a different converter was because I was worried that the SS3600 couldn't handle 800rwhp? I know Yank's site rates them to 650rwhp, But lately I've seen a quit a few people runing the Yank SS3600 with their boosted setups without issues and theyre making 700+rwhp.

TIA

If it were me, I'd go with a PTC 9.5" lock-up spec'ed to your combination. I'd call them up and talk to Dusty Bradford. He knows his stuff about turbo converters. I also have heard people having really good luck with the billet Vigilante converters (Denmah, I believe runs these in his builds or was it Circle D?).

Denmah runs circle d. I'm actually going to try a circle d in my 4l80e when I install it in the Fairmont.

I run a yank py3400 in the pickup. I've put over 1000 hp to it at 4850 lbs and it has always done me well. I launch off the foot brake and have no trouble cutting .0xx reaction times. Ptc is a quality piece as well. I've ran a cpl other big name converters that were no where close.

Using a Yank PY3600 in my Nova. Works great. Also just tried a Circle D 3400 in a customers 1000whp 4200lb car. That perfoms great as well as did the Yank PY3400 that was in it previously.

A custom converter from Ultimate Converter Concepts in NC. An off the shelf converter can't compare to a custom one for your set up

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it's much appreciated. I'll hit the track one more time with the py3600 and see what it does when I get the car back with the trans refresh. I'll switch to a 9.5" custom converter if I feel the py3600 is not helping the car reach its full track potential. Stay tuned!

why don't you call yank and ask what the options are for the 'next step', or he might even be fine with you sticking with what you got, i dunno.

I have NO complaints with my billet 9.5" unit that Greg spec'd out for my setup.

Lots of you guys use the py3400 instead of the py3600 I've noticed. I'll ask Dave at Yank and see if maybe that's what he recommends instead of my current 3600 stall.

Thanks everyone.
