Default Detonation?????
Hey everyone in the process of putting my 5.3 back together I cleaned the pistons up and have two that i think are bad. One has a bunch of pitting on one side and the other has one big pit in it. Was this probably caused by detonation and can i just get two used pistons to put back in? Its a LM7 out of an 03 so not sure if its normal or if the motor had something wrong with it. Also if i can just get a couple of different pistons where should I look? I tried ebay but no luck...Thanks and please help.

Would you mind posting up some pics?

Sounds like detonation, timing could have been a lil too off. Could also be preignition.

Haha, was just going to offer too. I have 7 or 8 out of a 5.3 I have no use for since I just bought a new short block.

Same here, cost of shipping I have about 6 5.3l pistons and rods together that I can yank and another 8 in my engine bay. I also have 9 ls1 pistons and rods. so whichever.

To me this is what forums are all about...showing off your ride, sharing information and helpikng other enthusiasts out. Seems lately they have turned into a troll fest and place where people come to slam each other. I try to do my little part to help and folks have helped me out in the past as well.
