98 to 0411 pcm swap woes
I applied the 3 bar software to it and it will turn over and fire for a second and die. It appears that the tach isn't responding correctly either. I finally got around to trying to getting it to run again and this happens. It's the same tune that I had in the 98 file. I have a 3 bar map as well.
I double then triple checked the wires and they are all still labeled for fear of something like this happening. I also had my dash out for my cage install and rewired my gauges that are in the cab.
I'm all ears.....

Not sure that I have much to add, but pretty certain the tune is not interchangeable between '98 and '99. I originally had a '98 computer and harness, but was advised to swap out to the '99 computer so that I could go with the HP Tuners 3 bar OS. After buying the newer computer, I paid a company to re-pin my '98 harness to be used with the '99 computer (they ARE different).
You might be aware of all of the above, but I don't understand your statement regarding apply the '98 3 bar to your '99 computer. If you have already had the '98 harness reworked, I might have a base tune 3 bar for your '99 computer. If you don't have the reworked harness yet, I might be able to help you out with that as well (I'm switching to Holley and selling off what I had).
Good Luck!

Maybe recheck the connectors inside the car on the passenger side foot rest area. Did you unplug any of that stuff? I repinned my 98 harness and experienced a few issues and they all ended up being something being in the wrong pin cavity at the two pcm connectors or a connector i had unplugged and once I plugged the male and female ends together again one of the pin cavities might be stretched open not making a good contact for the male side.
Just check and recheck i thought i had and a buddy who was helping me found a couple wires off by one cavity at the pcm connectors

I did unplug all that stuff. I they went to the bcm and something else. I plugged them back together. Im not sure what it is though. Its a small black box that had its own holder. Did your car start and then die immediately as well?
The only thing i do know is that this blows.

I have one extra plug that I'm assuming goes to TCS if installed. IIRC this same kind of **** happened to me when I originally swapped to a 2 bar setup. I had the 2 bar tune in and a 1 bar map and it wouldn't stay running. I knew that was the problem at the time.
What should the 3 bar read with koeo? Do you have to swap over to a different ect sensor for the swap? I'm at a loss here.

With KOEO the map reads 72.1kpa. I have 3 codes that I have no idea what the last two are.
P0452: Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
P0748: Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit Electrical
P1637: Generator L-Terminal Circuit

Glad you got the car running. Only tach related thing I could come up with for that swap was in this thread. Might give it a shot.
