Default Big turbo TH400 guys. Help me pick a gear.

Car was recently swapped from a t56 to a TH400. I upgraded from a 7675 to a 88mm on my Ls3 as well. I am on the fence with gears. I drive on the street 98% of the time so I still need it very streetable with no OD.

I wan thinking a 3.00 or 3.23.....However I also see some guys running a 2.7x ish gear in great running combos. From experience what is the best for a street car. I would imagine the 2.7x gear would be a great driver and spool the turbo hard but I worry about it taking away accelleration. (I roll race alot)

Any help is appreciated I am ordering my new carrier this week.

Thank you.

3.08 here with my 4l80. Turbo spools hard. I love the gear in the car. In 3rd cruising Rpm's are still manageable. Of course in od, it's around 2000 at 70. I think it's a great all around gear and for roll racing it does well.

I would go with the 3.23's. 3.23's can take you to 170mph (not taking converter slip into account). Even a little higher if you spin your car above 6600.

I also forgot to add I have a 3600 stall as well. I am really leaning on the 3.00. Then again though the 3.23 with a 28" tire is the same thing lol

If you do a lot of roll racing, put the 2.73's in it. I LOVE my glide and 3.08's for roll racing, 90mph in 1st makes it great. I want to step back down to 2.73's again.

3.08 and 28" tire with my th400 and 3800 stall. My Stall is a little loose for street cruising but works well at the track and still good on the highway. You can have a 3600-3800 and be tight at cruising rpms but mine just isnt. I think at 70 I'm around 3100 rpms so I stick to the 55mph roads where I can.

Anyone know what a 3:73 on a 26" changes to with a 30" tire? I know I've got to change the gear sometime in the future, but hoping I can get away with what I have while sorting things out.
Is there is a formula? Tire is a 315 x 15 on the car now.

I'm looking to step down now too. 3.73's worked great n/a and nitrous. but the turbo doesn't seem to be liking it much. I have been looking for a gear in the 3.20 range, but for my diff they only have 3.08 or 3.42
