max safe iat on e85?
Now that its in the mid 90's during the day I have seen some pretty high intake air temps at wot, ~170° in some cases. I'm not sure if my tuner disabled the iat timing adjustment, so just wanted to get an idea on when to start being concerned.

I'm wondering this myself... I don't run an intercooler and have seen intake temps 200+ running 8psi. I set the iat table to drop timing at higher temps but the performance is way down.

Having said that, the hottest I've ever gone and not hurt anything with my setup was 195* at the 1/4 traps. That was spraying 50/50 water and denatured alcohol (basically ethanol) and I'm non intercooled E85 efi.
I am going to keep the setting in my MS3X on to pull timing beyond 200* because if it gets that high, it means my meth pump isn't on. I'm also going to spray straight methanol this time around.

What I learned (the hard way) is that you're probably talking about a forged longblock, whereas the OP is talking about stock pistons.

I assume you are not running a intercooler...

My motor hates anything richer than 11.5.
Granted my setup is on a intercooler. And 18* . 4.8

I'm gonna guess it has everything to do with crazy IATs. Every setup is completely different. I've learned that you can have everything identical on two engines side by side, except one has like 2 more * of overlap in the cam, and that alone could require massive differences in the tune. I think people on LS1tech that spread urban legends forget that sometimes.

What should they read from it? That he's got a whole gang of time in his motor? It's all about what the setup wants. I went 10.76 @ 131 with 16psi and 13*. That's what the car liked threw a degree at it and it sounded like rocks in a spagetios can. That was all at 190-195* iats.

Not to jack thread but what should max iat's be on 91 octane? I am transforming this car I bought and changing to a2w and putting meth injection on it. It had e85 but I don't have anywhere to get that close.
