Default E85 + 100% meth. What is the octane?

Posted here because the fuel section does not have the response rate we do in the FI section.

I hear that 93 and meth comes out to around 116 octane.

Made me wonder what it was for those of us who run E85-E90+ meth.

The 93 goes to 116 with it being a 23 pt gain so E85 being 105 roughly would surely not gain the same 23 points.

That depends on the amount of each that makes it to the cylinder, and if you could even calculate that correctly.

Another vote for the amount of meth you inject the more the higher. 116 would be massive amount of meth. I calculated somewhere around 104 with a M10 nozzle on my setup.

E85 is more like 112 octane. E70 is 105

You would need to know the pressure delta over the nozzles as it varies with boost and pump pressure, depending on your meth controller. Flow dynamics of the orifices would also play a part in fuel mass delivery, however more negligible. That combined with the amount of fuel coming from the fuel injectors will determine the octane of the mixture.

I know guys running e85 with meth mixed in the fuel, no intercooler, over 20 lbs of boost, and is running in the teens in the 1/8th. Clearly it works if you figure out the correct ratio to mix

This is what I will most likely be doing with my car. 3 nozzles with one of those nozzles pre compressor and E85 and NO intercooler . I will probly run c16 with the meth in the mean time.

Well I know my AFR stays 11.0 when at wot and when meth comes on it goes to 10.2 and holds all the way to 16 psi. I don't have progressive controller. Its wide open at 7psi

It should be over 100 octane easily. I don't run e85 but I am running two M15 nozzles with 100% M1 meth and sometimes mix 98 unleaded with my 93 to achieve a little extra octane and detonation protection.

When I ran 3 15gph nozzles on my old turbo car, I calculated my methanol to be providing roughly 20-22% of my WOT fueling.

I can't remember how I calculated it, but I ended up with a 105-107 effective octane rating when using 93 pump gas.

I considered this myself at one time, but would have no idea where to go with the AFR

If u were going to do this why wouldnt u just run on 100 percent pure methanol? I mean if u were going to mix it with the E85 and Not run it as part of the injection system.

I wonder if FIC 127lb injectors and magafuel 4303 will do the job for 1000 to the tires with 2 15gph 100% meth nozzles and the corn!

wicked if you mean run the car on meth from the tank.... because itd cost over 100 dollars a day for me to drive on M1. E85 is way cheaper. the meth is just a cushion.
