So you're saying a 1000 hp car can't go 200-300 miles in a day in 90* heat and can't be daily driven?

I don't know where you are going with this but you first started off with that 1000 hp is useless on the street and then you want to throw out that your cars are daily driven. You somewhat change the subject on this and then want to somehow quantify a street car in this equation. Just to put it out there, there are daily driven 1000hp cars in here that can go 200-300 miles in a day. You just don't see them post often.

We are kind of off topic. I get into this at car gatherings too with back halved, tubbed etc cars getting 7mpg etc... I define street car differently. 4-5 passengers, drive to the bar or club and basically hide the fact it has 600+ rwhp. Get 20+mpg or 350-400 miles on a tank of gas. That's all. Old school guys define street car differently. I like my cars to turn and stop as well. I prefer a complete car so to speak, not a straight line warrior running slicks

There is a guy around here with a 7 second "street car". Early 70's TT Camaro. I would consider it a race car but old school guys swear its a street car. Difference of opinion, not an argument by any means.

I would run the 243 heads if you are using the Wiseco pistons as previously mentioned. If using the stock shortblock run the stock heads with an LS6 intake. Good head studs should be used with either.

Also I'm talking about old school big block cars etc... Not the modern LSx swapped cars. Just to clarify.

Also my 670rwhp Cobra was driven from Oklahoma to NY and got caught in rain several times. It was then driven from NY to Minnesota when I sold it. I drove it 110 miles a day to and from work when I felt like it. To give you an idea, I sold it because I hated the solid rear axle conversion.

Most 1000rwhp cars have to run a tire or suspension setup on the street that makes them 1 dimensional. Different strokes for different folks.

Regardless of whether or not the guy is going for a DD, Street Car, Street/Strip, or all Strip car (He never stated what the purpose was), I think the topic is more about helping him achieve the stated goal (1000rwhp) rather than why he wants a 1000rwhp.

I see your guy's points, but I think it's irrelevant to his questions. We should focus efforts on how to get him there, regardless of why he wants to be there. That's a whole 'nother discussion in itself.

Agreed. Good gas and lots of boost is the recipe. And at least a S480 turbo. If I could fit a S476 I would. When I get sick of the GTK1000, I'm going with the Turbonetics 7875. 750rwhp is plenty for me.

If the 5.3 pops on me I will be going with an LQ4 so I can do it on less boost and have less lag too.

Hell, my combo should make 1000. It's pointless on the street, but I want a graph that proves it. Rolling around on kill all the time will eventually lead to failure. 700-800 is good, then kill on the boost controller if need be, or I grab the gas in a pinch. I think a s480 will meet your needs. Talk to Dr Turbo. I would put cr around 9.5-10.1 and put a methanol kit on it. The stock pistons live, but are on borrowed time. Leave the crank, good rods and pistons and roll with it.

I want to just get to 1000Rwhp I plan on turning down the boost while driving. I just want it there if I need it. Im forging everything on the bottom end. I plan on chopping the rear out and putting in that frame from summit racing.
