Hey everyone,
I just recently finished a rear mount turbo on my camaro and I was having trouble making boost. Well I have all that figured out thanks to a few members help. Well I live in California and the cops dont like fast and loud cars. I want to make my rear mount as quite as possible. Has anyone put a muffler before the turbo? Im afraid of a glass pack style getting packing into the turbo and a baffle style muffler hurting my spool time. Any ideas will help. I will post pictures of my set up tomorrow.
Thanks,
Matthew

When I took my cats off, the noise was pretty bad. I liked it, but my neighbors didn't. My friend shipped off to Germany and he gave me 2 bullet mufflers for free. I took the car to the muffler shop and had them weld the two together and replace my 3" I-pipe with the two welded-together inline bullets. Worked like a champ. Good flow, but the crispness was toned down quite a bit. Louder than stock, but didn't sound like my exhaust fell off. I don't know what the brand is, but they looked like this:

No issues so far... ~5000 miles.

I have run a 14" magnaflow BEFORE my old silverado rear mount turbo. I liked how the rear mount sounded with stock cats, whistled/spool sound whenever you gassed it. I cut out my cats and holy crap, exhaust was loud! I could barely hear the turbo.
I cut in a 14" magnaflow before turbo and it sounded like a cat back and I could hear turbine whistle again. Also I never worried about packing falling apart and entering the turbo with the magnaflow. If I stopped hearing turbine whistle, then I would worry.
Also check out member OUTLAWZ RACING, he's got sound clip videos of a catless STS rear mount with a magnaflow bullet before the turbo. That's where I got the idea from.
