Default Collin Patton's Trans Am 408ci, 88mm build thread. ( it runs again)

Well we are finally starting on Collins car. Its a 2001 trans am, 6speed for now but he says he may go auto. Plan is the 88mm on a 408 lq4 engine. Unsure of heads, cam, intake at the moment. We will be using manifolds. Just got some of his parts over to the house yesterday mainly the turbo and its HUGE lol. Compared to my s475 anyway.

I will post updates as we progress.

But for now,

Ill leave you with this!!!!

Yeah its a massive turbo. Didn't really realize the size until I took it out of the box and set it on the workbench.

Yes I'm positive it's an s500. Btw it's my car that its going on and to fill in some gaps it's gunna have ported 243 heads with a custom solid roller cam, victor jr intake with the low profile elbow, dual walbro 345lph fuel pumps, -10an feed line unsure of injectors at the moment.

You might want to check. As ALL S500SX's are Vband center section and the comp wheel and compressor nut are two piece design.

I was told that this turbo is from Reed works and is the supernatural version. This is the first version of this turbo which might be why it's different in appearance. This turbo was originally on mike Emerson's Windsor.

Definitely not an S500. If he was told that, then he was sold something incorrect. That is a Garrett Large Frame unit, turbine wheel is also F-trim 130mm, not 111mm like the GT55 and S500's. Won't spool anywhere near what an S500 will spool like. Dead giveaway is the compressor wheel and the bolt down center section.

This isn't a s500 from Borg Warner though. It's from reed works and is one of the very first version they made of this turbo.

Your best bet... would be to Listen to Jose. Its not an S500.

And it doesnt matter who built it... the parts would still have came from borg warner and it would still be a borg warner turbo...

You posted picture proof of at least one lie you were told.... he said it was a 1.15 ar... but in the pic it says 1.00.

You dont have to take out word for it.. pull the housings off and measure the wheels with a caliper.

"Gonna feed that 408 for sure!" I think the question is not if it is going to but when?
