cobra fan mod
i swapped a 03 cobra fan in place of the dual 11" spal fans i had .
i couldn't use them any more cause my new blower was in the way.
well the mod isn't a direct drop in per say, alot of " weight reduction" had to take place to facilitate the "cramming".
the fan is installed upside down and only uses one of the retaining tabs on the radiator ( driver bottom) to hold it in, the top is held in by the radiator hose, the bottom by the core support ( my rad. is moved a bit forward) and the pass side is held up by the other radiator hose / outlet thingy.
the fan has a built in thermostat for the slow speed , but i by passed that and used the hi speed only, and boy does it move air!
the car runs cool in 100deg heat, but i have to get my a/c fixed real soon to give this fan the real test.
i would post pictures but i don't have anywhere to host them, so if anyone would be kind enough.....
and the fan costs about $200 + tax.
here goes the first attempt!
i had to cut stuff off as you can see.
i'll get pics of it installed real soon.
no way will that fan and no shroud be enough. now if you built some sort of custom shroud that covers the entire radiator then maybe.
what blower did you install? I run the dual 11's with my ATI no problem.
I can almost guarantee your going to reinstall those unless you live somewhere with no traffic and it never gets warmer than 85 degrees.
not trying to be a jerk but I have played the fan game for the last 3 years so I know.

i aggree with you on the shroud part , it helps alot . but don't forget this fan is huge! it sticks up above the radiator when installed.
i've been in the fan game for 2 years now too! the gazzilion fans i have lying around can attest to that!
i can't use the dual spals anymore, the blower is in the way (F-1R ), the D1-sc fit ook, but no way with this one.
actually the dual fans where not enough in stop and go traffic with the A/C on here (phoenix), but as soon as you started moving it was ok.
I think a shroud is in your future though.
or it plus 2 fans mounted to the ac condensor pushing thru the radiator might do the trick.

( god i love this attachment thingy!- please excust the shitty quality, it's a digital picture of a regular picture
)i don't think any extra fans are needed ( or possible) , when this fan kicks in you can tell cause everything dims down---loooots of amps to make it run.
i seriously don't know if a shroud is possible , this fan is 18 inches in diameter (at least) an covers most of the radiator. i'll have to show you the pics.
on a side note, i once had a total of 4 fans on the car, 2 pushers, and 2 pullers, what i learned is you get what you paid for when it comes to fans.
i's funny now that i look at my self when i first got the blower ; i was soo happy with 430 hp. ahhhh times have changed ......
