Default Half size radiator enough?

I did a search and didnt really see what I was looking for....

So in my quest to get the best turbo mounting location in the C5 engine bay I was wondering if running a really nice "half size" radiator with a nice SPAL fan would suffice? I am saying the radiator will be the same height but about 35-45% shorter from right to left. Its not a daily driver but is a regular street car with A/C that is driven several times a week. If I could do this it would give me about 6-8 inches more room to mount the turbo.

Anybody try this?

I wont be able to add much because of my lack of Vette knowledge but would this car be used daily? I have seen some Evos and a few STI cars locally running upgraded Honda Civic Rads which are about 1/2 the size of most conventional rads which work but they only use the car rather locally and mostly on weekends or 2-3 times a week total.

Hope this isnt against the rules....if it is plz let me know and I will remove

Yeah these guys beat on their cars late nights and at a few events a month....some drive daily but most guys that I know drive about 20-40 miles locally per day max so its daily for them....just short distance daily. These guys are also running high compression and rather high boost on their setups when they are on kill without any issues that I have known of. I would say their HP ranges from 500-950whp.....if that helps any. Some switch between E85 & pump and some just run straight E85 all day.

Nope, not enough. People with full size aftermarket radiators run warm here in AZ during the summer months.

The stock stuff is really the best. If you can find a way to keep the stock radiator do it. If you have to switch the fans, get derales or something equivalent, do not skimp there. If you get a different radiator, its gonna have to be a badass dual pass unit to make it through DD duty

Nah, stock C5 stuff sucks *****. I will just put some SPAL fans on it, maybe put some nice push fans in front of the radiator for some extra room.

Huh... I thought derales were the cheap stuff.

Depends what core you buy. Although if your keeping AC you'd still need to OEM sized condenser up front.

I run a 17x17x4.5 core with a shrouded ford taurus fan. Keeps me plenty cool even in 100+ weather. Even with the intercooler in front of it. No AC though.

Also no ducting of any kind. My setup could be much more efficient.
