Just for clarity, what gear do you start your burnouts in with your 4l80es? I hear you can ****. The OD roller clutch up if you do it "incorrectly". Is there a right or wrong way?

I just threw my 80e together last week. Stocker with a Transgo HD2 and 5.3L/S400SX4-75 ahead of it. I am planning on running that pig out the back end in OD at the track with 3.73s and a 27inch tire. Should be able to get thru the traps without hitting OD, but if I don't, I'll report back from the hospital!

well the car is running 13psi of boost and doing great, speedometer is GPS accurate and i am setting up shift points and dialing in fuel as we go.
also wired in the camaro dash fuel level today! working good
since my stock sending unit was bad, i installed a universal 0-90 ohm sending unit in the stock tank, and ran that to the PCM today and setup the stock gauge in the software, unbelievable how easy that was, i couldnt believe it. so just oil pressure left to do now.

With a 27" tire and 3.73s you'll be running through the traps at exactly 140 MPH at 6500 RPM in third gear. If you've got the power to push it faster than that and you shift into overdrive, the trans will probably let go. You'll also be at ~70 mph at just shy of 2500 RPM in overdrive.
You'll pick up 5 MPH with a 28" tire, or 7 MPH by swapping those out to 3.55s.
With a 28" slick and 3.23s, I'll be able to run out to 160 mph at 6200 RPM in third, leaving me tons of room for upgrades. I'll also be at 70 MPH on the highway in overdrive at ~2050 RPM.

Drove the car 75miles probably or more
another 50 miles just today (25 yesterday and day before)
its almost perfect, just some more cruising and whatnot to confirm and i wanna drive it everyday and make sure it keeps doing alright, no leaks, no problems, just want to finish up some interior wiring for power accessories and maybe swap the head unit, very very happy with this car.
tinkered today for a while got my shift points where i want, also 80mph is 2000rpm and 95mph is 2350 or so haha OD ftw

No. No overdrive gear should ever be used to put down serious power unless the transmission was built specifically for it.
